We got Yoshi when she was just 8 weeks old. We brought her home on September 10th, 2013 and this was what she looked like then.
Her favorite place was in a full laundry basket of clean clothes. It was so cute! (A bit frustrating cause the clothes were clean but still cute nonetheless).
We thought it would be fun to keep track of how much she’s grown by having her jump in the laundry basket every couple of weeks and snapping a pic.
Here’s the last photo.
Can you believe it? She’s grown so much and so fast! Dave and I were just talking that we can’t believe we’ve only had her for 4 months and she’s quadrupled in size. She was 16 lbs when we got her and was 47 last time we took her to the vet. We are thinking she’s probably 52 or more now.
Since she’s growing so fast things she basically has to relearn things she doesn’t do often – like going down the stairs. We keep her on the first floor so she doesn’t go up or down the stairs much. She never has trouble going up but down is a different story. She always stands at the top of the stairs for a minute and looks at the stairs as if trying to figure out how to navigate them. Then she just goes and it she sort of half-runs half slides down. If you think about it her legs grow a couple of inches in between each time she goes down the stairs so it is like relearning how to do them all over again.
The other day she was sleeping on the ottoman to the couch and just rolled off onto the floor. She just laid there looking like, “Ugh, again?” Then she got up to come over and sit by me under the computer desk and when she sat down her head hit the underside of the desk. It didn’t reach the day before.
Even though when we got a dog we wanted something medium size or smaller and Yoshi is going to far exceed that, she’s an awesome dog. She is still a puppy so she has her mischeivous moments but overall she really picks up on things fast. She already knows how to sit, stay, lay down, shake, high-five, and sometimes she will even beg. She’s got a great temperament and lets Kora and Logan lay on her and she enjoys playing with them. She loves Dave too, one of her favorite times of the day is when he comes home. She gets really excited to see him, it’s so cute!
I’m thinking of getting her certified as a therapy dog where she could visit people in hospitals or assisted living facilities. I’ve done a bit of looking and need to figure out what classes she needs to take and what exactly she needs to learn to do to be able to do so. I think she’d be great at it and hope it will help her bring smiles to many other people as well.
What about you? Do you have a pet in your life that makes you smile?
Yoshi is so cute!! I love how she is growing into that face of hers. We have 2 cats that make us smile everyday. They both love to snuggle and play with the kids.
Thank for the compliments on Yoshi. Your cats sound wonderful and so fun!
Yoshi is so cute! We’ve pets my whole life, they always bring a smile :)
wow, she is big … and beautiful ;) Yes, trained as a therapy dog would be wonderful!
Thanks for the compliments. Yoshi is a great dog and I think she’ll make a wonderful therapy dog too. I’m hoping there are some classes in our area.
We love both our rescue dogs, I’m amazed at how King is so very protective of little Lady. At the same time he plays with her & doesn’t get rough. He does get her out of her play area, lifts her right over the top of the gate.
Sounds like they are a great pair! How funny that he lifts her over the top of the gate, that would make a great viral video I bet.
She’s such a beautiful puppy! We got a white german shepherd this last March and can’t believe how much she has grown. Too fast!
Puppies do grow fast don’t they? I don’t believe I’ve seen a white German Shepherd before. She sounds beautiful!
those are adorable pics, love the repeat pics in the laundry basket.
Thanks. We thought that putting Yoshi in the laundry basket would be a great way to see how much she’s grown.
Oh my gosh she has grown so fast! She is still super cute!
WOW , she looks like a completely different dog! So cute!
Yoshi is adorable and I love all of your pictures showing how much he has grown! What a great family dog!
I love reading about Yoshi, Tesa! The pics are so precious! I think she would be a perfect therapy dog. I love all animals.
I have had pets my entire life. I grew up with four dogs, but now I have four cats. I wish I could get a dog, but I live in an apt and, well, have a house full of pets, as is. Post more pics of Yoshi and the kids. I love seeing them!
Not right now. I lost my last cat a year ago and haven’t replaced her. I love to go to my friend’s house and watch her crazy cats.
