Planning
For some people this is the best part, so many dreams and grand plans, which eventually compromise with reality and budget. After you figure out where you are going, these apps will help you plan what’s next.
- TripIt Free – iOS & Android
- TripIt pulls details from your emails to create a vacation itinerary which you can view and modify from any device. You can also share your details and securely secure data and images like passports, ID’s and more.
- USA Rest Stops – Free – iOS
- Every road trip encounters plenty of stops, some planned and with a family, plenty unplanned. This app lets you easily search the rest areas and amenities on your route. Take your planning to the next level.
- Packing Pro – $3 – iOS
- Make sure you don’t forget anything! Do you remember that time you forgot to pack shorts for your business trip – which happens to be in the heat of Texas? Don’t’ let it happen again! Use the sample lists and other features to create packing and to-do lists for every family member, including the dog! Set alerts, record completed tasks and stay incredibly organized for your big family trip.

I really like the rest stop app!
These apps sound good. I will check them out
We have a couple of car travel trips planned this year and I think one of these apps will be really helpful. My wife and I are traveling to Boston in April and we are taking the kids on a cruise out of Florida in September, it’s a 15+ hour drive!
