Summer time is coming! Yay! Here in the Midwest it seems like winter can last forever everyone complains about how cold it is. However many of us quickly forget how cold it was because we can quickly turn to complaining about the crazy heat in the summer time. June thru September can just be brutal around here with the heat.
New Air Misting Fan received.
This is why I am excited to receive for review about the AF-520B 18” Ultra Quiet Outdoor Misting Fan.
NewAir provides tons of solutions for the changing temperatures in our lives, and their new misting fan is truly going to be a life saver from the Midwest heat!
This 18” Misting Fan will work great on my patio this summer. It is not the biggest patio, but placing the fan in the corner will certainly provide some comfort. They say this fan can cool off a 500 sq/ft area, and from what I have experienced so far, I believe that may be on the low side.
The Misting Fan really kicks out some mist, I was shocked at how much mist came out and how far the fan was able to send it. I am really excited to run around with the kids this summer and then spend a couple of minutes camped out in front of this misting fan! It will be awesome.
Controlling and setting up the AF-520B Misting Fan is nice and easy. Just connect the hose attachment to a water supply (fits your standard hose or faucet), plug it into an electrical outlet (yes, there is water around this electrical device, so they included a GFI switch – bravo!) and you are ready to turn on the fun. Next turn the fan on by pressing one of the 3 power settings, turn the water valve on and your fan is now a misting machine.
The Misting Fan easily changes to cover any area, the fan head tilts up and down, there are 3 speeds and you can even set it up to oscillate and cover even more area.
I can imagine the kids begging to have this fan turned on every time they go out in the heat this Summer, and I know they will be asking to move it around, maybe to cool off the basketball court, or make our soccer field (the front yard) cooler. With how portable the AF-520B is, all of these will be doable.
This is going to be one very cool summer!
This NewAir Misting Fan is great, there are a couple of things that could use some improving, nothing major, but a couple of things could make the experience even better. Once you turn the valve for the water to “on” the fan mists, which isn’t a major deal if you know about it, but it would be nice if it the valve could open when the fan is turned on. Also, the plastic on/off valve is very simple, it was my mistake, but after I connected the water line to my hose, I just dropped it to the ground, and the handle of the valve (small plastic slide switch) snapped right off, after a quick replacement with an old brass valve, that shouldn’t happen again!
The other opportunity for improvement comes with the cords. There is a water tube which runs from the fan casing and down, next to the pole. The power cord is similar, it comes from the back of the top fan area and runs down next to the pole. It would be great if both cords could be run down the interior of the pole and out the base somehow. Not only would this make the Misting Fan more aesthetically pleasing, but it may also reduce or eliminate a potential tripping hazard.
Even with these minor opportunities for improvement, the AF-520B will be a very welcome addition to our yard this summer. I look forward to enjoying the patio all Summer, even on those dog days of Summer when it would normally be too hot to hang out on our patio.
How would you use your Misting Fan?
