When I was a kid we had a Nintendo 64. Some of my favorite memories are of playing video games with my sister together on long rainy days and of biking to the local video store to pick up our latest game rental. We’d wake up excited to check out the newest game and see how far we’d get by the end of the day. Dave tells me he was a huge Nintendo fan as a kid too. When sharing our gaming memories one favorite we found we both enjoyed was Zelda.
Nintendo Switch & The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild as well as Zelda books & amiibo were received.
We were thrilled when Kora & Logan were old enough to play video games too and they immediately became fans of Nintendo. We’ve had the Wii U for a while now and recently were excited when we were sent the Nintendo Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild and some Zelda books & accessories for review.
Since we all loved Nintendo and Zelda in the past, we couldn’t wait to get started using the Switch and The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild!
We had watched many videos of the Nintendo Switch and were excited to see how it worked. Once we had it out of the box, we were amazed at how many different ways you could use the Joy Con remotes and at how small they were. You can put them together for a two handed grip or separate them and use them individually.
They fit perfectly in your hands, either together or separate, and learning how to use them was a breeze.
The tablet is a good size too, while it is much smaller than even an iPad Mini, it makes it easy to take on the go and the visuals are fantastic!
Once we had the Switch out of the box, getting started was easy. It didn’t even have to charge, we simply plugged in the HDMI cable and the power cord and were ready to go. The startup screen walked us through a short set up and within minutes we were playing The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild.
As soon as the game appeared on the screen we knew this was going to be an amazing. The graphics are incredible! It’s like you are right there with Link exploring and discovering a massive land.
Even though it is only one player, we simply set a timer and every time it went off we’d “switch.” While it seems like it would be tough to wait your turn, it actually is fun figuring out together what to do when a choice popped up and where to go next.
Here are Kora and Logan to tell you a bit more about the Nintendo Switch and what they like about The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild.
We were also sent two amazing Zelda books on you can see above and in the video and here’s a peek inside the other.
The other book contains a map. We have been playing The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild for a couple of weeks now and we have spent a lot of time playing it. Which is why it’s funny, when they tell you in the video above how far we have explored on the map compared to what else is out there!
We love that this isn’t a game you can beat in a few hours or even a few days. This makes it perfect for some family fun this summer and ideal for long rainy days.
While we enjoy playing the Nintendo Switch on the tv, we find it convenient and fun to be able to pop the tablet out and take it with us wherever we go, so we can continue our game when we have some downtime away from home. It’s also a fun way to play with family and friends.
The Joy-Con controllers can be used as one controller or two, vertically or horizontally, and with motion control or buttons. You can even use the included Joy-Con Grip to combine both Joy-Con controllers into a traditionally style controller. It all gives you flexibility to play whatever you are playing comfortably and seamlessly.
I was also excited to learn that with the tablet, you can link up to eight systems together to play anywhere.
And I can’t miss mentioning the Parental Controls allowing you to:
- Manage Nintendo eShop purchases via your Nintendo account
- Limit sharing on social networks
- Restrict access to games based on their ERSB ratings
And there’s a free app that gives you more ways to manage your parental controls from anywhere through your mobile device.
We have been enjoying the Nintendo Switch and The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild so much that we highly recommend them both to other families out there. It’s such a fun way to spend some family time together. Both the Switch and The Legend Of Zelda game encourage conversation and they get everyone excited to see what is going to happen next. I love making memories like this with Dave and Kora and Logan and hope that they are happy memories that stay with them for as long as they have from my childhood, playing Nintendo 64 with my sister.
Oh this is so neat! I love how you can use it with the TV …or alone! I think our family would have alot of fun with it too!
I like how compact this is. Would be fun to have one for the grandkids.
This looks like fun. My son would love this.
