Did you know that National Love Your Pet Day is this Tuesday, February 20th? It’s the perfect excuse to recognize our pets for all they do for us on a daily basis. Pets are great listeners, they always find a way to make us laugh when we need it, and they offer wonderful companionship as well.
I’m excited about National Love Your Pet Day because we have two wonderful dogs now so that means twice the pet recognition!
This post is sponsored by Purina.
You may already know about our big loveable hound dog Yoshi who is going to be 5 this summer. She is too big to be a lap dog but she loves to give hugs.
And a couple of months ago we got a Chiweenie puppy. We named her Sunny. A Chiweenie is a mix between a Chihuaha and a Dachshund. Sunny is tiny, only about the size of Yoshi’s head! She is an adorable ball of energy and while she loves to cuddle, she is also always doing something crazy to make us laugh.
Yoshi and Sunny get a long great together. If you can believe it, they wrestle around and also chase each other around the house all day too. Thankfully we got them to sit still long enough to snap this cute family picture. If you look hard you can see Sunny in Kora’s lap.
Our pets are loving companions who enrich our lives in so many ways. They inspire us to try new things, love us unconditionally and push us to be our best every day. In recognizing National Love Your Pet Day, I am showing my companions some extra love and affection by giving them an extra treat or two, lots of extra cuddles and pets, and if the whether is nice, I’d love to take them for a nice long walk too.
Then maybe after they’ll enjoy a nice long snooze.
When we adopted Sunny, we wanted to go online and check out what dogs were available in the nearest animal shelters. We got Yoshi from the shelter and wanted to do the same with our second dog. My sister hopped on Petfinder and sent me pictures of an adorable litter of Chiweenie puppies. I went on the site as well, checked them out and immediately filled out the application. Not long after, the pet shelter contacted us and said we could come out and see them.
This was a great way to look for the perfect dog for our family. I had been browsing Petfinder for a while prior to my sister sending the picture. I liked that we could decide if we wanted a puppy or an older dog, decide if we wanted a small, medium, or large dog. We could even pick the breed if we knew what we wanted. Looking at all those cute pet faces makes you smile and the site makes it all so simple. Do you need a companion to share the love with too? Purina and Petfinder have helped more than 2.2 million pets find their perfect match, and they can definitely help you find yours!
With National Love Your Pet Day on Tuesday I was interested to learn that according to a survey by Purina, pets can provide more than just companionship. They can play a part in helping pet owners find romantic relationships, too!
- For example, 54% of people have found their pet as an instant conversation starter with someone they are interested in.
- Also, nearly 6 out of 10 surveyed say that they are likely to consider a person with a dog more attractive.
- 1 in 3 people would want to meet up with or talk to someone that has their pet in their dating website photo
We are thrilled to have Yoshi and Sunny in our lives and are excited to give to celebrate them on National Love Your Pet Day.
