Thank you to Alamo for sponsoring this post and providing products. The honest opinions are my own.
A few days ago I shared one of my favorite holiday travel pictures and stories from the past. Today I thought it would be fun to share a more recent picture and story.
This is a photo of Kora & Logan packed up and ready to head out for yet another road trip to Michigan to visit my side of the family for the holidays. I love this picture because for years they were happy to ride in the car and read books nearly the entire way there and back with a nap or two along the way. As they’ve grown older electronics have become more a part of all of our lives and they’ve even found their way into our road trips.
I don’t mind the electronic games they play. We try to make sure most are educational and fun at the same time, but this photo reminds me of how little they used to be. I don’t think I’d be able to only read books for 7 hours roundtrip, so the fact that they used to find books so fascinating that they kept them entertained for that long makes me realize how much they’ve always love the little things in life.
It’s these little things that Kora & Logan are always pointing out to me. We can plan a huge holiday road trip with a jam packed schedule full of seeing Santa, visiting relatives, opening gifts, and more and their favorite memory will be the book they brought in from the car that Grandma read to them or “helping” Grandpa with his puzzle and putting that last piece in for him.
This holiday season is full of travel for many families and many special memories will be made. It can be a hectic time of year, so it’s important to make things as hassle-free as possible so we can truly enjoy the moment like Kora & Logan do every day.
That’s why I was interested to learn about the savings and hassle-free rental experience Alamo has to offer. Did you know they are the official rental car of Disney World? There are rental locations throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Asia as well as with 171 kiosks at 63 U.S locations to make renting easy.
As for savings, Alamo.com posts deals posted 0n a near weekly basis and by joining Alamo Insiders you’ll receive an additional 10% (or more) discount on your rental.
I’m happy to learn about all of these opportunities to save and for the hassle-free travel that will sure come in handy next time we are traveling.
Happy holidays!
My child travels with too much stuff haha. Usually we cut down on the clutter and only pack a few toys that stay in the suitcase.
Traveling with kids is way easier now then when we were kids. Kids now a days have all kinds of electronic gadgets and so many cars have built in DVD players. It makes the trip much more enjoyable for everyone.
That’s wonderful that books kept them entertained! You have adorable children!
I’ve used Alamo a lot. Great service!
I love this picture, they seem really enjoy the road trip. I can never learn to enjoy road trips, simply because I don’t like to drive.
Love The Simple Things In Life !:)
Growing up in the 60s we’d drive non-stop from FL to MI most summers, and I think it was all reading, coloring books, and fighting with my brothers.
Reminds of when my kids were little. No electronics way back then though. Lots of paper, colored pencils, books, etc.
We used to drive from NY to Florida with my kids when they were young. For that length we always brought a little TV that could play videos for the trip. This was before the days of smartphones and handheld games.
My daughter loves books but can be hard to keep entertained in the car. I used read in the car too but now it gives me a headache. :(
When I visited my husband is basic training years ago, I used Alamo for my rental car. It was the best price for the best little car. They treated me well. If we had to rent again, I would definitely be willing to go with them again.
I am saving this to come back to! We have driven 2 times from AZ to MN and I am hoping to drive again next year after baby #3 comes along. It’s so much cheaper to drive than fly these days!
Oh my gosh, your kids are so adorable. What a fun post.
Traveling today with kids does seem easier bc theres many more things to entertain them. When I was a kid we were lucky if we had coloring books :)
