With the Super Bowl around the corner I’m excited to make some delicious appetizers and snacks to enjoy while we watch the game. While Dave enjoys actually watching the football game, I’m more partial to the commercials and half-time show. Even so we still enjoy good food while we are tuned in.
I was amazed to learn:
- Over Super Bowl weekend, approximately 100 million pounds of guacamole will be eaten.
- It takes more than 220,000 football fields worth of farmland to grow all those avocados.
- If all the guacamole consumed during the Super Bowl were spread across the football field, it would measure a depth of 11.8 feet
Guacamole is one of our favorite game day recipes and these stats are impressive!
Guacamole has become such an undeniable Super Bowl sensation that an avocado company is investing millions on the first ever guacamole-centric 30 second Super Bowl ad for this year’s big game.
Blimpie, America’s Sub Shop, has taken notice, too, and they’re ready to help Super Bowl fans bring (and enjoy) their avocado A-game. They’ve recently released the perfect game-day guacamole recipe and they’re gearing up to roll out a brand new line of guacamole-filled flatbread sandwiches, set to hit stores on February 2nd.I’m excited to share this Game Day Guacamole Recipe and look forward to serving it on Super Bowl Sunday:
Blimpie’s Game Day Guac Recipe
- 2 ripe avocados
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 ripe tomato, chopped
- 1 lime, juiced
- salt and pepper to taste
Peel and mash avocados in a medium serving bowl. Stir in onion, garlic, tomato, lime juice, salt and pepper. Season with remaining lime juice and salt and pepper to taste. Chill for half an hour to blend flavors. Enjoy!!!

We love guacamole. Thank you for the great recipe! Can’t wait to make this.
I looooooove avocado and guacamole! If you like Pico De Gallo you can make some of that and mix a little into your avocado and get a little spicier version since Pico De Gallo is the same ingredients but with some jalapeno and cilantro added. Good stuff!!
Yum! Love guacamole! Your recipe looks good, but my favorite is very plain guacamole…just avocados, lime juice, and salt.

Not a fan of avocados so won’t be using this one but will pass on to those in my circle that love it
I like avocados any which way and especially in a good guacamole. I like cilantro so would add a touch of it to this.
I love the recipe it seems so healthy, but I wonder how it would be for an avocado newbie
