Last week I went to Boston for the Marshalls & T.J. Maxx Blogger Holiday Event and was given overnight accommodations at the Fairmont Copley Plaza and enjoyed my stay so much I can’t wait to return!
My shuttle ride from the airport took a bit longer than expected due to arriving right at rush hour. The couple of miles took nearly an hour because of all the traffic. However, it offered me a wonderful opportunity to view Boston and all of it’s incredible buildings.
When pulling up to the Fairmont Copley Plaza, I was amazed at the lovely majestic exterior of the hotel. With large rose-red awnings and an expansive entryway, complete with doorman and bellhops rushing to help everyone as quickly as they could, I knew I had arrived at a luxurious location.
Once through the front door, I walked down the long hall toward the check-in desk. I couldn’t keep my eyes off the beautiful crystal chandeliers lining the ceiling or the glass display cases full of both historical and modern novelties.
Approaching the registration area, I noticed a black Labador retriever in the lobby! I was a little surprised to see a dog at such a fancy hotel, so I went over to read the sign on the counter above her dog bed. I learned that this was Catie Copley the Fairmont Copley Plaza Canine Ambassador.
Catie was originally trained as a guide dog and she lounges in lobby while meeting and greeting guests. She’s also available for walks and jogs. While petting her, I could tell she was the perfect Canine Ambassador – she’s very friendly and at the same time incredibly laid back. She relaxed on her dog bed as nearly everyone who passed by her, stooped to give her a pat on the head and and then walked away with a smile.
After saying hi to Catie, check-in was a breeze. I found the front desk clerks to be warm, kind, and helpful. I was directed to the closest elevators in relation to my room, but before heading up I wandered around the lobby soaking in the beauty.
Once I did reach my room on the first floor, I found it to be exquisite. The room was extremely large and very clean. It had a gorgeous chandelier hanging from the ceiling and a flat screen tv.
There was a nice dark wood office desk and a cute sitting area. The bathroom was large as well. I loved the dark tile as well as the shiny silver fixtures and good-sized porcelain sink. That night I found the beds to be very comfortable and even though there was a bit of street noise, I slept very well.
I only stayed one night and there were many amenities I didn’t have time to enjoy such as dining at The Oak Room, which was named Boston’s best steakhouse, the spa and health club, and of course taking Catie on a sightseeing walk.
However, The Fairmont Copley Plaza offered such an inviting, warm atmosphere coupled with the elegance and grandeur of the historic hotel it is, that I can’t wait to return and enjoy the hotel and everything it has to offer.
Looks like you had a great time at that hotel. One of my faves here in Boston!
This hotel looks stunning! What a magical place to stay!
Looks very nice!
LOVE Fairmont Hotels! We try to stay at them any chance we get (even spent our wedding night at the one in Dallas). :)
I love Boston and all the history that surrounds me. Glad you enjoyed where I have called home my entire life. Sorry to hear you arrived at rush hour and got stuck in traffic. You were probably landing over my house because we live only several blocks from the airport.
You are one lucky lady. I think having the dog as am ambassador is a great service that the hotel provides. They now need a cat. The room looks gorgeous…old world luxury. I go to Boston about once every cpl of years and now I have another option to consider when I look to hotel choices!
Wasn’t the hotel beautiful?! Glad to have met you IRL! Keep in touch!

I would stay at any hotel that has a canine ambassador! If I ever need a hotel in Boston, I know where I’m staying!
