We have packed up the family, hopped on a plane, and jetted off to sunny Florida. We have been counting the days to this trip and were excited to be invited to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. We paid our conference fee and have had such an unforgettable time that I’m excited to share our experiences!
Saturday morning of Disney Social Media Moms there was a lovely breakfast at the conference center and then we were invited to attend Merida’s official coronation in the Magic Kingdom. The crowning took place at Cinderella’s Castle and a large crowd was there to welcome her warmly as she became the 11th Disney Princess.
After the coronation, we had time to spend with our families until a special advanced screening of Monster’s University. We spent the late morning and early afternoon at Downtown Disney.
We shopped, enjoyed ice cream, and Kora & Logan and their cousins all enjoyed a crazy carousel ride together.
After the movie screening I asked the kids what they thought and got a big thumbs up from all!
Monsters University is coming out on June 21st, 2013 and we found it to be a cute, funny, and fun movie that we’d recommend seeing to Mike & Sully fans.
That evening we attended a wonderful dinner party in Fantastia Gardens Mini-Golf Course. I was worried about how it would go because it was pouring buckets when we arrived, but there were two covered dining areas offering plenty of space and decorated delightfully.
The food was delicious and was a wide spread, offering something for everyone including incredible desserts.
Thankfully the rain stopped quickly and Radio Disney was there to get everyone up off their feet and dancing to popular tunes and to Disney classics. They did a great job teaching the kids new dance moves and held had a hula-hooping contest. We were surprised to see Goofy come out and perform remarkably well on the drums with the Jamminators!
Who knew Goofy could drum so well?
We also had the chance to play mini-golf as well. It was a fun course with lots of Disney themed obstacles and surprise water features.
Everyone had a great time and all the kids were asking to do it again but by that time the dinner was over. The kids crashed early and the adults stayed up for a few hours chatting. It was wonderful family time filled with so much laughter our cheeks hurt at the end of the night.
Sunday morning was Mother’s Day and we were invited to attend a Garden Party themed breakfast for the whole family in the Contemporary Resort Conference Center. It was a lovely set up and they used the multimedia screens to display topiaries, flowers, and butterflies.
We were pleasantly surprised to have Soleil Moon Frye as the breakfast keynote speaker. She chatted with Gary Buchanan about her days as Punky Brewster and how it prepared her to be a parent. She had many wonderful things to say about how parenting is wonderful insanity and all part of the magic.
Throughout breakfast there was a piano on stage and many of us wondered what other special treat we were in for. We were excited when a group of impressive singers serenaded us with a medley of Disney songs with a beautiful Mother’s Day narrative thread running throughout. It brought a tear or two to the eye of many moms in the room.
After the songs ended, that was it. It was all over.
There were thank you’s all around, good-byes made, and many hugs shared. We checked out of the Contemporary Resort wondering how it all could have gone so quickly.
It was an incredible event that gave us memories as a family that we’ll never forget and I can’t thank those that organized it enough for everything they did to make this an unforgettable and fun-filled few days that we’ll cherish forever.
