It’s almost here! Disney Social Media Moms 2011 is only a couple of days away and we can’t wait! We are paying the conference fee and while there we will get to participate in all kinds of memorable activities, events, and meals. Disney Social Media Moms is a blog conference that takes place at Disney World Resort.
This year the event is taking place from March 17th – March 20th and has been generating lots of excitement for months. This conference is different from many others, not only because it’s located at Disney World, but also because it’s a family focused conference. Attendees are encouraged to bring their families and, in fact, they are included in the conference rate which includes 3 nights at the Grand Floridian as well as tickets for the Walt Disney World Parks. There will be family events and dinners as well as free time to spend in the parks together, as well as inspiring conference sessions for the attendees
The Twitter hashtag #DisneySMMoms is a great way to connect with other conference attendees. The hashtag is full of advice from what to pack (official rumors are to bring an extra suitcase to hold special pixie dust surprises!), what to wear (most events are casual and comfortable), and where to meet (lots of pre-conference networking going on and excitement shared!).
There is also a number of Facebook pages that have been created to help attendees make connections, ask questions, and get to know one another a bit better.
The Social Media Moms Celebration at Walt Disney World site is the official site for registration (which is now closed), news, updates and the agenda. Right now there are brief bios on conference speakers who include: Chris Brogan, Renee Sylar, and Susan Eagan. An outline of the conference schedule is also included. It notes an Opening Reception, a Fairytale Weddings presentation, Conference session times, and free time to spend with family. The Family Dinner are also listed as taking place on the beach of the Grand Floridian, at Disney Hollywood Studios, and at Epcot. It all sounds so fun and incredible!
The last time we went to Disney World our kids were 2 & 3 years old.
This trip we anticipate being a completely different experience. There were many rides the kids weren’t tall enough for and now that they are 4 & 5, it’s will be like a whole new world for them. Logan isn’t as scared of costume characters, they don’t “need” naps (although we might!), and they are in love with everything Disney. It will be a real treat to take them and we are so excited about this opportunity.
I’ll be tweeting about the conference, the events, and the parks while we are away and I may even publish a post or two. There will definitely be a recap after we return and settle in, so if you’re interested in learning all about the Disney Social Media Moms Conference be sure to follow me on Twitter and check back for our trip review.
There is one thing about the trip that I’m extremely nervous to even type – we will driving to Orlando from Cleveland. It will be about a 15 hour drive with 2 preschoolers. It should be interesting and very memorable. I’m really hoping it goes well and we won’t have to stop off during the trip at some point to buy portable DVD players – if you can believe it, we are doing this trip with no in-car DVD players…we know we’re crazy.
We’ve started packing for the trip and I’m frantically gathering road trip tips for young children everywhere I can find them. What about you? Do you have any tried and true travel tips for us….Please? :)
I have followed all of your Disney blogs. They all sound so amazing! Lots of great memories for your family:)
Love Disney and Orlando — my tip is to go in January when it slows down but usually the weather is decent (not 100 degrees).
Plus my fave restaurant is Emeril’s Tchoup Chop (take the ferry boat from Universal Citywalk).
I want to go now…
I was wondering if anyone who registers can attend or if there’s specific criteria you have to meet in order to register and attend?
Thanks!
How exciting! Hope you and your family has a wonderful time!! That is quite a long drive, but I’m sure it will be well worth it :)
Oh Wow, this sounds like so much fun….the Disney part, not the road trip part…LOL! We’ll be driving 6 hours to Disneyland in a couple weeks with our 4 kids. The only advice I have is if you don’t have a DVD player in your car, invest in a portable one!!! With earphones!! And I also go to the Dollar Store a few days before the trip and buy a few little items and pack them in a gift bag that they can only open once we’re on the road. It usually keeps them occupied for a little while!
Have fun and stay safe!
Have fun with your 4 at Disneyland!
We may just be taking you up on your advice about a DVD player and stopping along the way to purchase one if it comes to that! I hope not, our two are pretty good road trippers, but 15 hours straight through might be expecting a bit much.
I don’t have any tips…but am looking forward to see what others say and hear about your experience. We are planning a Disney trip in the fall and as of right now are driving from Cleveland as well.
That’s wonderful that you are planning a Disney trip in the fall! I’ll be sure to post about how the trip went and any tips or advice I might pick up along the way that would help you out. Have fun planning!
