Ever since we had an incident with someone snooping around our house a couple of years ago, we believe it is very important to have a nice home security camera. It helps make you feel safe and you can always know when something is happening at home – who goes, who leaves, when a package gets delivered and more.
Arlo Q received.
In the past we have had a chance to review Arlo Wire-Free – Netgear’s truly wireless camera that can go just about anywhere indoors or out, we love it and use it all the time. As a Netgear Ambassador we are happy to introduce a new member of the Arlo family, we are thrilled to have a chance to review the Arlo Q and share our thoughts with you.
The Arlo Q seems like it was designed to pick up where the original Arlo Wire-Free system left off and offer some improvements. When you add the Arlo Q to your existing Arlo camera system, you have a very safe, smart and secure home – together they are the total package with Wire-Free providing security outdoors thanks to it being battery powered and weatherproof, while Arlo Q keeps the inside safe and secure.
We can check on all the specifics about the Arlo Q shortly, but first I wanted to share how the Arlo Q has some features that complement the original Arlo. The Arlo Q is able to be used to record long events and offers higher resolution in the captured video. These are 2 pretty common features, but my 2 favorite features are;
- 2-way live communication that is available thru the app with the speakers and microphones built into the Arlo Q.
- It’s smart, using analytics, Arlo Q can intelligently detect activity in zones which you can setup easily. This is really cool, it allows you to take a smaller area of the huge 130 degree site, zoom in on what is seen and select a specific area to keep track of motion and be notified when something happens in that spot.
In addition to my favorite features above, Arlo Q has a very strong night vision camera on it, and I love the motion and sound notifications that the camera and app offer. Also, you can schedule times to monitor, review up to 7 days of recordings in the clouds with premium additional services. The Arlo Q does all of this and more, one of the most impressive things is the ease and speed in which it sets up, in under 10 minutes you can be up and running. Using the Arlo app makes setup so easy to connect it right to your router, with no additional products needed.
I am really impressed with the Arlo family, I do however wish they would improve their app, it is easy to use, but could use some refinements and updates to make it a little more modern and friendly.
Ultimately, Arlo Q is a great, easy to use and install device that we love. It comes in modestly priced at $219, which for all the comfort and sense of mind that it offers is well worth it.
Check out the Arlo experience and everything that Netgear can do for yourself, you will feel more secure and amazed with the ease of use.
