We’ve had the chance to test drive for a week, the Toyota Camry. I remember when our family purchased a Toyota Camry way back before I could even drive. I remember that car as well as any car, it is the first car I learned how to drive in. Back then in the early 90’s, the Camry was well on its way to becoming one of America’s most popular cars. Now, Camry is at the top of nearly every list for the most popular selling car in America.
Fortunately for everybody, the appearance has changed quite a bit, the new Camry looks nothing like the one from the 90’s. It is sleek, bold, aggressive and much more fun to drive than its older counterpart.
I took the 2016 Toyota Camry on a small road trip and came away very impressed. There is a reason it is and continues to be one of the most popular cars in production. It is fast, but not too fast, bold looking, but still perfect for the family and it is safe . . . very safe. Which makes it a perfect car for moms and dads to perform any necessary soccer runs or trips to the office.
I had a great time driving the Camry, it is a great combination of sporty, fun to drive, reliable and safe. There are many models of the Camry available with lots of options for engine – even hybrid, tires, features and more. There is definitely a model that fits exactly what you want. I wanted to focus this review on what makes Camry stand out in the tech and safety arena, so here are some of my highlights from my experience.
Tech
Wireless charging – this is super cool, it allows you to place your Qi compatible phone (or phone case) onto the charging pad and charge your device. No wires, no fuss.
Entune – Toyota’s App Suite is back in the Camry and provides access to just about everything. Music, reservations, movie tickets, sports scores, traffic, weather and more.
Real Time Traffic Flow – in Entune Premium you are able to see real time traffic, suggest alternate routes, predict traffic patterns and more.
Voice Activated Features – this provides you with an easier way to access your Entune Suite. Just speak normally, and Camry will understand.
Safety
Blind Spot Monitor – detects tough to see vehicles
Backup camera
Lane departure alert – this helps you from straying outside the lines on a road trip.
Tire Pressure Monitoring – Standard on all models, this alerts you if a tire has become underinflated and needs your attention.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control – adjust your cruise control speed automatically based on the proximity of the car directly in front of you.
Pre-Collision System – Automatically applies the brakes if a frontal collision is anticipated.
Ten Airbags – more the merrier.
Safety Connect – Emergency assistance at your touch. Stolen vehicle locator, roadside assistance and automatic collision notification.
Whiplash Injury Lessening Seats – if you are rear-ended, the seats are designed to reduce the risk of neck injuries.
There are so many outstanding features on the 2016 Toyota Camry, it was great to test it out, after driving it for a week, it is obvious why you see so many of them on the road.
The Camry is great for the family or the single person, go take one for a test drive and find out for yourself why you see so many of them in your neighbor’s driveways.
