WAHL Color Pro Haircut Kit – Review

The screaming cries of a toddler mixed with the loud roaring sounds reminiscent of a lawnmower.  No, this is not Tired Dad Dave’s recollection of a summer day a couple years ago (when I would gladly go fight hay-fever to cut the grass, if it meant getting away from the kids when they were cranky!), rather it’s what I experienced every other month when I would cut Logan’s hair.  You see, Logan has always been sensitive to any loud sounds and anything touching his skin, and after our first (and last) experience taking Logan to the barber, we decided I would cut his hair instead.

At first, I thought nothing of it, I have been cutting hair since I was in grade school.  However, it’s simple to lose your focus and not as easy as it seems when you combine noisy clippers with the big soggy tears paired with ear-piercing screeches from your son.  I am sure the neighbors had some interesting comments and thoughts when they would hear my boy wailing at the top of his lungs while I cut his hair.

Fortunately for the 2 Tired parents, Logan is now a preschooler and has had so many haircuts that he’s not as quick to throw a tantrum at the sight of the clippers, but the noise still bothered him. Luckily, we had the opportunity to experience the WAHL Color Pro 25-Piece Color Coded Haircut Kit.

When I first turned them on, it reminded me of going from an old car with the familiar noisy shrill it makes, to a new car that you can barely hear running. With the Wahl clippers, I initially had to touch the blades to feel them moving to make sure they were on.  They are so quiet that Kora and Logan even noticed and the new clippers met their approval instantly.

They performed wonderfully too. They were nice and even easy to use. The colored attachments are new for me, but I found it great for keeping the kids interest, they both wanted to see what color I was using on Logan’s hair, and how they were different.  Kora was glad to help when I asked her to grab the “red” attachment and was willing stay and talk to her little brother during the haircut since you can hear others talking while these clippers are running.

Check out the photo a video of a recent haircut.

Logan was great and the WAHL Color Pro with the smooth cut had a lot to do with it. In fact, I’m so pleased with the nice cut they gave Logan that I’m off to cut my own hair with them right now!

My kids are 19 and 21 and have only been to the barber once or twice and that was when they were already in there teen years. My husband and my oldest have learn to cut their own hair and they also cut the youngest ones hair.

I would love a new set of clippers. Mine is probably 15 years old.

How great that your son is able to sit still when getting a hair cut! My preschool-age daughter still can’t sit still when I simply comb her hair!

I have been cutting my husband’s hair for twenty years now, and my three son’s hair since they have been ready for their first haircut. I love to buzz the boys hair, and I am on my third hair cutter-buzzer. They seem to dull so fast and the clippers get uneven (I am always trying to straighten them). It is time for a new one since I have recently abandoned. I have been checking out the one that is at Costco, but just didn’t know. I will look around for this WAHL one and give it a try.
