As a TiVo Brand Amabassador products and service provided. The honest opinions are my own.
I love television. I look forward to the end of the day where I get to sit down on the couch and get engrossed in a great show or movie. There are so many great shows out there to pick from and that’s why I’m excited to be a TiVo Brand Ambassador.
The TiVo Roamio Plus has many great features and with the click of the TiVo button on your remote you can use the simple and easy to navigate menu to find just what you are looking for.
From here you can search cable TV, Netflix, Hulu Plus, and more all at the same time. You can also click “Find TV, Movies, and Videos” then you can access Collections – one of my very favorite ways to find new shows to watch with TiVo.
Collections organizes tv shows, movies, and sometimes even YouTube clips into themed categories. There are many categories to choose from. You can search all of the Collections, only TV, only Movies, or Sports.
Here’s a look at Movies:
Here’s just some of the TV Collections:
Here’s some of the categories under the Sports Collection:
In each you can browse the Collections for any topic you are interested in. Here are a few more:
- What’s New
- Best Crime Dramas
- KidZone
- Classic Cartoons
- Mouse House Movies
- Retro Saturday Morning
- AFI’s Top 100
- Best Family Movies
- Animals & Nature TV
- Best Talk Shows
- Best Reality TV
- Arts & Crafts TV
- Educational TV
- Basketball
- Football
- Bobsled
- Skating
- Tennis
- Volleyball
- Follow Your Favorite Team
- …and many more.
One of my favorite things about TiVo Collections are the seasonally based categories. These categories pop up based on what’s happening now. For example, with the Emmys coming up on the 25th you can find:
- 2014 Emmy Nominees
- 2014 Emmy Snubs
- Emmy Award Winning TV
- Emmys 2010’s
- Emmys 1980’s
- Emmy’s 1950’s
- Outstanding Lead Actress
- Outstanding Movie/Minisereis
- Outstanding Comedy Series
- …and many more.
I love how funny the 2014 Emmy Snubs show descriptions are. For example for Orphan Black the description says, “Apparently, the nominating committee didn’t realize that BBC America was a channel” and for The Blacklist it says, “How much more Brando does James Spader have to channel to get nominated?”
When looking at my Collections recently I was amazed and touched to find an entire category dedicated to Robin Williams. It’s remarkable to see how many shows and movies he’s been in.
I made a video to walk you through the Collections so you can see how it works and how easy it is to use. You can get a glimpse at the Robin Williams Collections in it too.
Since using our TiVo Roamio Plus, I can’t believe how many shows and movies I’ve discovered. I’ve had access to all of them previously but only if I was looking for them in the first place. Collections allows me to find all kinds of things to watch when I don’t know what I want to watch. I’ve found lots of new (to me) series and movies as well. Here are some of the shows and movies I put on my must see list:
- We Are Marshall
- The Big Bang Theory
- VEEP
- House of Lies
- The Good Wife
- Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight
- The Blacklist
- Brooklyn Nine-Nine
- Famous In 12
- Legends
- Boardwalk Empire
- The Sopranos
- thirtysomething
Yes, it’s true I haven’t seen any of these and I have a lot of catching up to do! Thankfully I can make a Wishlist with TiVo and it has up to 3000 hours of recording capacity (keep your eye out for more on these topics in another post soon).
In other TiVo news this week, be sure to hop on over to the TiVo Blog today or tomorrow so you can play Emmy Bingo. It’s a fun new way to watch the Emmy’s. Simply print out the bingo card and when each of the events occur mark them off with your pen, pencil, or stickers. If you fill in five squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, shout out Bingo and you win!
On top of that if you are the first one in your TiVo viewing party to have a winning bingo card you can tweet to @TiVo a picture clearly showing yourself and your whole bingo card, and if you’ve followed all the rules you’ll receive a free TiVo guy plush doll!
How fun is that?!
The TiVo Blog is always doing fun stuff like this and it’s full of fascinating TiVo viewing facts too. Visit the blog to print out your Emmy Bingo card and good luck! Have fun watching the Emmy’s, yelling “Bingo!”, and you can learn more about TiVo Roamio Plus and Collections on the TiVo site.
I didn’t realize you could search collections. What a great feature!
i never knew you could search “collections” – and that there were so many other ways to browse. thanks
