How much more could you get done if you were in a better mood? I know that there are times I could get a lot more done if I could just lighten my mood a bit.

The people at Thync decided to conquer bad moods this year and their product was released at CES with some mind-blowing results (pun intended)..
Thync is a device that can alter your moods with sessions they call Vibes. There are Calm and Energy Vibes available depending on what you are trying to achieve. You get your Vibe courtesy of a device that goes onto your temple and connects to a strip that is made for your specific Vibe.
By the use of low level electrical pulses, Thync is able to stimulate certain target areas in order to achieve a desired state of mind.
If you have not experienced Thync, you are probably thinking the same things I was initially “there’s no way this can work” or “wouldn’t it be cool if it actually worked.” Those were some of the thoughts going thru my head when I first heard of Thync earlier in the year. I just had a chance to try it out for a couple of weeks and my experiences have been great.
I have tried it in a number of situations, just like a lot of others who have reviewed the Thync system over the last couple of months. I tried the Energy Vibes to get ready to “psych” myself up before going to the gym, and I also tried it to get focused and motivated to do some work which isn’t always fun. In both cases, I noticed a difference more in my general attitude, nothing extreme, but a definite mild change. Others have said it is a perfect caffeine replacement.
However, when I used the Calm Vibe, that is when I noticed a MAJOR difference in my mood. I’m not really sure how to describe it, but the words that work best are “chill” or “zen.”
There are tons of uses for your Thync unit, so I wanted to try a couple of not so common uses and see how they work best and share my experiences with you.
Post workout calming – Have you ever gone to the gym during the work day? I have and it often takes a while to settle back down, whether you went for a run or were lifting weights, the exercise can leave you a little amped up still. I tried a Calm Vibe and a couple of minutes afterwards, I was nice and relaxed. It was as if my settling down period was expedited and I was good to go and get back to doing what needed to be done in just a couple of minutes.
After dinner to play with the kids – After working all day, you come home, eat dinner and then you want to veg out, read a book, watch TV or something simple and relaxing. Well, the kids have another idea, they want to play, this could be board games, legos, cards, or anything that doesn’t involve relaxing! With a short Energy Vibe, I am good to go with the kids and then even do something productive around the house when they go to bed.
Motivated to do yard work – who wants to do yard work? Well the Thync Energy Vibes help to take away the feeling of “I don’t wanna do it.” After a workout Vibe, I was ready to go, focused and motivated to clean up the leaves (don’t tell the wife!). I was actually excited about doing the leaves, it was so neat.
Calm nerves so you don’t eat everything – work, parenting & life in general can be stressful, at the end of the day anxiety can build up and make it hard to relax and easy to eat everything in the kitchen. I used a Calm Vibe to help take the edge off, the anxiety melted away and so did my desire to keep eating everything as we relaxed and watched a movie.
Solve “To-Do List Anxiety” – A lot of people need caffeine to start their day. When I have a busy day, I make a list and have a bad habit of looking at my list and thinking “there is so much to do on it, when and how am I going to get it all done.” I have tried both an Energy Vibe to focus at this moment and I have tried a Calm unwinding Vibe as well. Both Vibes had success in getting me away from the “I will never get all of this done” feeling. I personally preferred the Calming Vibe, but I had to make sure it was a short one, so I didn’t feel the need to take a nap a bit later!
There are tons of ways to use your Vibes with Thync, there is a learning curve to figure out what works best for you. You need to make sure the pads and unit are lined up in the right spots while using them and then you need to adjust your settings properly. There are a ton of variables, but the Thync App does a great job of simplifying it and guiding you through the process.
The Thync system does indeed work, I am totally amazed, it seems like technology years ahead of its time. The best thing about it is that you can achieve these certain moods without chemicals or drugs and use it as a caffeine replacement. The uses are limitless, but I can see a great fit for individuals who suffer from anxiety and/or those who frequently feel like they need one more cup of coffee to get thru the day.
