Can you believe The Princess Bride is celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary this October? I have loved this movie since childhood. I can’t believe it came out 25 years ago! When I heard about the anniversary Blu-ray edition I immediate added it to my must have list.

The Princess BrideIf you haven’t see The Princess Bride you’ve been missing out on a fantastic and fun movie filled with fantasy, intrigue, deception, romance, heroes, villains, pirates, a sword fight or two, and miracles.

If that’s not enough to convince you to see it how does The Cliffs of Insanity, Rodents of Unusual Size, and the Pit of Despair sound? A bit too dark?  Well there’s humor, hilarity, an enchanting story line, and lots of plain silliness throughout as well. And lines like “As you wish….” and “My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” and “Inconceivable!” will have you repeating them long after the movie is over.

The cast is star-studded including Fred Savage, Robin Wright, Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Wallace Shawn, Carol Cain, Peter Falk, Billy Crystal, Andre the Giant, and many more.

I was thrilled to learn of the anniversary edition and once it arrived, I couldn’t wait to watch it. The all new featurette “True Love The Princess Bride Phenomenon Parts I & II includes brand new interviews with the film’s director Rob Reiner and screen writer (and author of the book) William Goldman as well with many members of the cast. There is also collections of never seen before movie mistakes, film tributes, and parodies.

There are quite a number of additional features as well including audio commentary by Rob Reiner and William Goldman, Cary Elwes video diary, Miraculous Makeup, Easter Eggs and much more.

I recommend The Princess Bride 25th Anniversary Blu-ray Review to anyone who is a Princess Bride fan or to those new to the movie. It’s a classic heartwarming, humorous story that will stay with you for 25 years or more.
