Have you ever been to Texas? Many years ago I visited the state for a family reunion. It was gorgeous. We rode horses on the beach, we stayed in a beautiful beach house, and we had a wonderful time reconnecting with family.
We chose Texas as our reunion destination because we have a number of family members living in the state. We wanted to see what drew them to it and once there, we understood why they chose to live there. It is beautiful and the weather is so much warmer than up here in the Midwest!
I was excited to hear recently that Texas Tourism is promoting their great state through a traveling interactive experience called, Texas on Tour.
The Texas on Tour experience is a 5,400 square foot mobile marketing exhibit which offers a 30-foot dome theater, interactive games, green screen video and photography, live music, and more. Through the virtual reality theater visitors are transported to personalized Texas outdoor experiences (such as kayaking the state’s waterways) that are both educational and entertaining. You can also take a picture of yourself in the state and even stroll along a Texas beach using the green screen technology. How fun is that?!
Here’s a bit of info, similar to what you might learn when visiting the exhibit:
“San Antonio is a beautiful city full of history and culture. This year is a wonderful year to visit the city as 2011 marks the 175th anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo. You can also stroll along the newly expanded River Walk, dine on nationally acclaimed cuisine, and visit the area museums. San Antonio is on of America’s most affordable and friendly cities. Make it your next family vacation destination. Go to visitsanantonio.com to learn more.”
San Antonio is also the sponsor for the event!
Texas on Tour will be visiting the following cities:
- Del Mar, CA
- Seattle, WA
- Columbus, OH
- Des Moines, IA
- St. Paul, MN
You can learn more about the exhibit by visiting the Texas on Tour website.
And don’t forget to enter the Texas on Tour Sweepstakes where you can enter to win a trip for 2 to Texas!

Yes, I have been to Texas! Totally enjoyed the Riverwalk in San Antonio!
I’ve been wanting to visit Texas for a few years, seems like such a beautiful place
I heard Austin over Dallas as far as cities go…
I was born but not raised there. I’ve only been back once, but unfortunately it was just speeding through headed home to Florida after a Rockies vacation. I wish we had had more time.
Beautiful beach photo!
I have never been to Texas but have family that is very happy living there.
Darn it. It’s not coming near me!
