The Super Bowl is right around the corner and Dave and I always enjoy watching it together. He gets into the game, I enjoy the commercials, and we both love the food. Kora & Logan don’t have much of an interest in the game or the commercials yet, but they look forward to the food too. That’s why I love experimenting with new recipes every year when the big game is on.
One of my requirements for Super Bowl recipes is that it must be fairly easy and portable too. I want to be prepared in case we find ourselves watching the game at someone else’s house. I like Super Bowl Sunday to be a casual day and while I enjoy making the food and snacks, I don’t want to spend the entire day in the kitchen. It’s a great opportunity for Dave and I to spend time together and it’s even more fun when I can whip up delicious recipes without a lot of work.
Lately I’ve also been very interested in baking from scratch. I had no idea until last year, how truly simple it is to make things like cakes, pancakes, bread, pizza crust, and even rolls and buns without using a boxed mix. My first attempt was a cake and it turned out so wonderfully, I’ve been hooked on from scratch cooking since.
That’s why I was excited to learn about the ACH Fleischmann’s Yeast site, Breadworld.com. The site is full of hundreds of from scratch recipes that are easy, convenient, and delicious. There are so many recipes to choose from and just some of the categories include: Sandwich Breads, Sweet Treats, Beginners, 1 Dish, Hearty and Healthy, Holidays and Special Breads, Pizza and Calazones, and more.
I decided to give the Bacon, Herb, & Cheese Snack Bread a try. It looked like a good candidate for our Super Bowl menu. The recipe was really easy. I simply followed the directions and mixed the ingredients in a large bowl. I spread the batter into a greased jelly roll pan, let it rise for 30 minutes, and popped it in the oven for 25 minutes. It smelled so good while baking that even Kora & Logan commented on it saying they couldn’t wait to try it when it was done.
As you can see it came out wonderfully. It was cheesy, full of flavor, and the bread was so soft and fresh it didn’t last long! This recipe was so delicious that I can’t wait to make it again for Super Bowl Sunday. I’d love to serve it with a side of pizza sauce for dipping as we cheer on the teams and enjoy the commercials.

This looks like a great appetizer to keep the sneaky fingers out of the grill platter.
