Spring Shape-Up: Update #1

Spring Shape Up - WeightsA couple of weeks back, I posted that I really wanted to use this Spring to get back in shape. After lazing around freezing all winter, I’ve had enough. The bad news is that post was written March 15 and until this week I haven’t done much, unless you count walking around Disney World as exercise!

The good news is the last two days, I’ve been bitten by the exercise bug and have made it to the gym for an hour each time. I’m starting out slowly and simply walking but I made it 3 miles each time. It feels good getting out of the house for a bit each day too and so far I haven’t been too sore, just a few aches and pains, but nothing to complain about.

This weekend it’s supposed to be 65 on Saturday and then 80 degrees on Sunday! I’m so excited to head outside for a walk or two, maybe I’ll even turn it into a slow jog. It’ll be nice to get Kora & Logan over to the park to get some fresh air and exercise too.

As for Tired Dad Dave and his Spring Shape-Up plan, it’s going pretty good. He’s been doing Insanity on and off over the past two weeks or so and it is really beating him up. He definitely has a love/hate relations ship with the DVDs right now! Hopefully, you’ll see a post from him soon talking about his first week working out with Insanity and what his thoughts are.

That’s where we are in our Spring Shape-Up plans. How about you? Are you eager to get and get moving this Spring?

Congrats on being motivated! For me, that’s the hardest part. I always “want” to workout but seem to make excuses. Well…that was until last Monday when I finally said enough! I joined weight watchers and have already dropped 5 lbs and feel so much better.

I need challenges and goals to keep me focused, so I joined a “walk/run 90 miles in April” group. I have already completed 41 miles, so almost half way there on April 8. Plus, when I still have energy after my jogs, I opt to use various dvds (P90X, 30 Day Shred, Yoga, and various Biggest Loser workouts).

I’ve thought about trying Insanity. I love P90X, but here that Insanity is many times more than P90X.

Yay! Good for you. Keep it up. Although an hour a day is a lot. 30 minutes a day might be more doable in the long run. I just started back to the gym after my 4 week surgery recovery. It feels great to exercise again.
