My poor hands. The winter weather here in Cleveland really dries them out. It doesn’t help that we don’t have a dishwasher and I hand wash dishes all day. And on top of that with flu season around, I’m fairly fanatical about washing my hands. My fingers sometimes become so dry, they’re painful. I’m always on the lookout for good lotion at a great price.
Recently I was sent a sample of Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion. I was thrilled that I might have the answer to my painfully dry hands. The Shielding Lotion works differently from a moisturizer in that it keeps irritants out while adding moisture and keeping it in.
I was excited to try the lotion and used it for over a week to test it out. Unfortunately, it didn’t work wonders for me on my cracked hands (sorry, gross, I know) but it did a decent job as a daily moisturizer and it contains SPF 15 which is always a positive. I think the premise of the product is a good one and it may work well for others. If you visit the Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion site you can view an interesting animated graphic about the concept of the lotion and it’s benefits.
Because the lotion didn’t work wonders for me (but it may for others), I give it:
One thumb up, one thumb down.
Thank you to Skin MD for providing the lotion for review. No other compensation was provided for this review. The opinions are mine, yours may differ.

Have you ever tried just plain ole Vitamin E cream or oil? I use the oil as it does better and is absorb easily. Walmart has both. The oil is back with the vitamins, I believe Nature’s Own. Also, Jergens and Suave’s Vitamin E lotion is also good. Hope this helps.
Great suggestions, Judy. Years ago my husband used to use Vitamin E capsules and break them open and put the liquid right on the area that needed to be healed. I forgot all about that. Thanks for the reminder! I will look for the oil so I don’t have to go through the trouble of cutting open the capsules.
I use Neutrogena Swiss Formula cream. It works well on my hands, but yours sound a little dryer than mine. Check your kids hands too. My 4 yr old complained that his hands were hurting the other day and the backs were all chapped from all the times he washes his hands. So now we put that cream on him too.
