6 Must-Haves for Holiday Shopping with an Infant

This time of year our family spends a lot of time out and about – whether it’s shopping, going to visit grandparents, or a much needed dinner out. Also with the change in weather it seems like germs are going around like crazy around here. Miss Emma has finally gotten too heavy to drag around in her infant car seat so she’s been enjoying life in shopping carts and restaurant high chairs. And, more often than not, those carts and high chairs just look icky and gross. She is also at the stage where everything becomes a toy, and it all ends up in her mouth. We still need to leave the house but I needed some ammunition to help keep her clean and cart/high chair germs protected.

The Bright Starts Comfort & Harmony Cozy Cart Cover was just what I needed.

It provides complete protection from germs on shopping carts and restaurant high chairs. It is made of soft, padded fabric featuring 3 storage pockets for toys, loops to attach toys for Emma to reach and best of all, machine washable. The cover has slits for the safety straps of the cart or high chair to be used so she was still secure, which is imperative as she has turned into to complete wiggle worm.

Emma also received the Bright Starts Lights, Tiger, Action and the Bright Starts Start Your Senses Play A Tune Piano to try out. They both light up, play songs and have beads that rattle when shaken, Emma’s current favorite activity. Neither of these toys have on/off switches, however the songs and noises were quiet enough and played for a short enough time period they didn’t become annoying at all. The tiger and piano have quickly become some of her favorite toys to play with.

Our house is currently passing around colds and Emma is teething which means a super runny nose for her. I’ve been trying to follow everyone around with tissues and antibacterial gel but the girls don’t like it at all. Mustela’s Facial Cleansing Cloths have really come in handy.

They are alcohol-free, hypoallergenic wipes that are perfect for wiping runny noses, tackling dried on baby boogers and keeping hands clean. The package of 25 wipes is resealable and just the right size for keeping in the diaper bag, or even a large coat pocket.

I tried Hugo Naturals French Lavender Hand Sanitizer as well.

It’s 95% organic yet kills 99.9% of germs. I like that is a natural product, however the lavender scent is a bit overpowering. Mackenzie asked to wash her hands after I sprayed it on her because she didn’t like the smell. I did use it on the handles of shopping carts as I don’t like to use the bleach wipes that stores provide with Emma putting everything in her mouth. It worked great for that purpose.

Of course with all the shopping and running around everyone gets hungry. Currently I make all of Emma’s baby food so eating on the run can be somewhat of a challenge. The folks at Plum Organics are completely brilliant in my mind. They make 100% organic baby food in BPA-free pouches. They then got more brilliant and added the boon Dispensing Spoon that twists right onto the pouches for one-handed, mess free feeding on the go.

Squeeze the pouch, food squirts onto the spoon and Emma was happy!

The spoons come in a set of 2 with a carrying case so no more carrying around plastic bags with silverware in it for me. It was super easy to feed her at a restaurant and even sitting in the car with the pouch and spoon. I have already stocked up on more pouches to keep on hand for when we are on the go and plan on using them for an upcoming road trip as well.

The holiday season can be hectic and crazy with trying to keep everyone healthy, happy with clean faces and full tummies. These wonderful products from Bright Starts, Mustela, Hugo Naturals, Plum Organics and boon really make leaving the house with a 9 month old less of a struggle and with my sanity intact.

The products were provided for review. No compensation was received. The opinions are my own and that of my family.

It is amazing the things they have now a days. When my kids were little, it was just easier to not got many places just because of the inconvience of it. Putting them in a basket to shop was impossible. Love the picture of your baby in the shopping cart. Too cute!
