As a stay-at-home mom you can usually find me in jeans and a sweatshirt this time of year. It just doesn’t make sense for me to get dressed up as if I was going to the office when I spend most of the day on the computer or cleaning the house. This makes me all the more excited for special occasions that call for a fancy dress.
That’s why I was excited to learn about Misses Dressy. It’s a fantastic site that offers A-List evening dresses by top designers.
Their dresses are beautiful. They have many different styles. Some are bright and colorful.
While others are more subtle but still shimmer and sparkle.
I was impressed to see that many of their dresses ship the same day. This is great because evening dress shopping comes with a deadline and it’s important to make sure the fit is right before the big night.
I remember the last time I went out shopping for an evening dress. It was a few years ago for a fundraising auction event. I was excited to get dressed up and out of the house for the evening. I wanted to find a dress that made me feel beautiful. After visiting one store after another I finally found the one. It was a deep purple and perfect. I loved how it allowed me to wear my favorite colorful necklace and was happy to see it played off the purple in the dress. It was a great night and lots of fun and I still have that dress and hope to wear it again some day soon.
My favorite evening shopping dress excursion however was for my senior prom. I didn’t go to my junior prom because I had a volleyball tournament so I was very excited to go when I was a senior. My mom and I shopped around for ages. I didn’t know what I wanted but as soon as I saw the black velvet dress with a big royal blue puff on the shoulder (it was the early 90′s!) I was in love. It was such a beautiful and gorgeous dress that it made for a fun and memorable evening.
Shopping for evening dresses can be very exciting and now that I’ve taken these trips down memory lane, I feel the need to get out of my jeans and sweatshirt and find a reason to put on something shiny and sparkly!

I never have a chance to dress up anymore but I really like the blue dress.

I think the last time I wore a fancy dress like that was to Senior Ball many years ago. Last year I had fun taking my daughter to the mall to buy her first dress for her first high school dance!
Dress shopping for me has always been pa challenge for me, I am not even 5ft tall. Everything seemed childish at prom time, or extremely expensive in NYC. I dated my husband for 4 years before getting engaged. It was then to my surprise his Aunt revealed she was a wedding gown designer & custom made the perfect wedding gown for me. I felt like a princess. Unforgettable.
