It seems spring is finally here and we’ve had a good combination of rain and sun. While I’m not a big fan of rain, our garden is and that’s why I’m excited to write this series of sponsored posts about Kora & Logan’s homemade herb planter. You may remember that at the beginning of April I started chronicling the progress of this herb planter. Here’s a quick look back through the series.
The first post revealed that we were looking forward to once again planting our side garden this year. We discovered a few years ago that our neighbor’s brick wall gives off heat and turns our little side garden into a greenhouse allowing it to do really well without a lot of maintenance.
In the next post I revealed the inspiration behind the herb planter – The Home Depot Kids Workshops which take place the first Saturday of every month. At the May workshop Kora & Logan built mini planters. After the workshop Dave and the kids picked up supplies and seeds to build a large leaning tower herb planter.
Over the past few weeks, the kids have been ready with a watering can to keep their herb planter properly hydrated. Even so it takes seeds time to grow. I posted an update last week showing that we added in a few flowers and additional small herbs to the planter to give it a little color and to keep the kids excited. It turned out beautifully.
This week I’m happy to post that the herbs planted from seeds are finally growing! Here’s a look a the planter now:
A close up of our new tiny herbs!
Here’s a video of Kora & Logan’s reaction to the growing herbs. I was happy to capture their surprise and excitement on film. So cute!
They’re very proud of their planter.
Kora & Logan are very excited to see that their planter has done so well. They’ve really enjoyed helping garden this year and are always asking what they can do next. They even helped Dave plant a few of the flowers in the side garden which is turning out to be very cute!
We’ve been so inspired by this project that we’ve been working hard on our other gardens as well. One of our front gardens that we started from scratch is really coming along and we are very pleased with its progress. We’ve had a great time gardening together as a family this spring and are looking forward to continue to tend to the kids’ herb planter as well as give our other two front gardens a makeover.

Your herbs have really done well. We have barley made any headway with our herb garden. We have had a lot of rain this year. So much rain that I think the herb garden is not going to survive. I would love to see you post an update of them fully grown.
Impressive. I love how involved your kids are. Fun project and excited they’re growing.
How neat that the kids got to paint bird houses at home depot for part of this experience. Seems like you all had a good time with nature. :)
love them! we got our garden going this weekend
Looks good!
Beautiful Garden! My Family Loves Gardening!
What a great looking garden! I love how the kids got involved and the progress you’re making.
These look really nice! You all did a great job!
You’re so lucky. The deer maul my plant outside the lanai and the leaf miners maul them inside.
Thanks for sharing – I signed up for the Garden Club! My son would love to have fun doing garden stuff like your kids. They make it look really fun. :)
Tesa,
You obviously have a FAR greener thumb {as do your cute kids!} than I ever could or will. Nice job!
YAY! They are looking great! What a wonderful project to do with your children! I have been wanting to start on herb garden, and after seeing this, I want to even more!
That’s great!!! I can’t get anything to grow….maybe I should visit and join the garden club!
What a fun project for your family, and educational!
Looking good!!! I am so behind!!! I need to join the garden club, too.
So exciting!! I always love seeing new little sprouts come up. It’s my favorite stage of their growing cycle. We love growing herbs!
I really want to start a garden or even a herb garden…but I always fail at planting stuff…. sigh, I did not get my Mom’s green thumb that is for sure. Your kids look super excited in those pics!

This is a really unique idea! Great way to teach kids about Gardening!
What a fun activity to do with your children! I think I need to do this with my son, he would really love this since they just had a whole week at school talking about gardening.
I think they are going to be quite the little gardeners :)
It’s growing wonderfully! It’s great to see your kids so excited about this. We’ve grown our own herb planters with The Home Depot this season too and mine have also been thrilled. It’s been a great experience.
