I was just browsing through travel news and noticed an intriguing article on Yahoo Travel. According to a recent TripAdvisor survey, Sandusky, Ohio is rated #5 in the Top 10 Destinations for Family Fun!

Sandusky can thank Cedar Point for this rating. They draw people from all over the world and it really brings a lot of revenue to the area. The water parks in the area also help. My family goes to Kalahari every year at Christmas time, the kids love it. As soon as my kids get a little older I will buy the season passes to Cedar Point and go more often. For us it’s only about a 1 1/2 hour drive.

I have very fond memories of going to Cedar Point as a kid in the 70′s! I grew up in Windsor, Ontario and in the summer we would do day trips to Sandusky, Ohio just to go to Cedar Point. I imagine things have changed quite a bit over the years. Need to make plans to go again.
That’s so neat that you grew up in Windsor! I grew up just across the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron. Small world! Cedar Point is great – it really is a fun day trip and then there are those who stay and play for multiple days because there’s just so much to do. I think you’d love it if you had the chance to return.
This looks like a great place. I love amusement parks with fun family filled activities. I’ve never heard of this park, but it sure looks like tons of fun.

My favorite place in the world to go!!! We lived in FL for 18 years and took the kids to Disney World four days a year (residency discount)…but no matter what, we always made a trip to Sandusky every summer too because it’s just that good. Don’t get me wrong, we love Disney, but nothing compares to the thrill rides at Cedar Point. They also have two large ride areas for the little ones, so it’s just win-win to take the family.
My oldest is grown and we meet him and his gal there every summer (they live in D.C.). So it’s a tradition that may be carried on…everyone in the family just loves it.
There are also two pizza places in town there that have really unique flavors that we love, and they have some potato chips in the local stores…Jones Salt and Vinegar, that are unlike any chips we have ever had…and we love those too. :)
Sandusy and Cedar Point are summer faves, I’m glad they got the honor too. Thanks for sharing.
I haven’t been yet. Everytime I’ve had the chance I got pregnant. I’m hoping to get there finally this summer. I’m dying to get on some of those coasters!
