Protect-A-Bed Mattress Protector – Review

Accidents happen at our house, whether it is a sippy cup of milk spilling, a dog making their mark, a diaper leaking, or most recently our 2 year old painting nail polish all over the bed! These accidents can ruin expensive household goods- including our mattress.

Thankfully Protect-A-Bed sent us a new mattress protector just in time.

Protect A Bed Mattress Pad Review

Carter, who just turned two, transitioned to a twin sized bed early since he kept climbing out of his crib. He is at the stage where he is starting to show interest in potty training, but wears a diaper at night. It seems like lately the diaper is leaking at night more consistently making the need for a plastic type mattress pad necessary to prevent messes from saturating the mattress.

What We Liked About the Protect A Bed Mattress Protector:

  • It has a thick terry cloth like material that is cushiony

Protect A Bed Mattress Pad Review

  • It is waterproof but doesn’t make the rustling plastic crunching noise typical plastic backed mattress pads do!
  • The protector had great deep corners that fit well over our twin sized mattress and would have fit a deeper mattress as well.
  • The corners were well sewn to the actual top of the pad so that they would not rip like our previous mattress protectors have.
  • The protector has a ten year warranty itself and it can help maintain and protect your mattress from stains and spills so that your mattress’ original warranty itself can be maintained.
  • It offers a dust mite barrier and allergy protection.

The product was provided for review. No compensation was received. The honest opinions are my own.

I’ve been thinking about buying one of these. Thanks for the review.

This product is not waterproof and should not be used for bed wetting children. We purchased 2 for our young children and the urine soaked through staining our new mattresses. The company replaced the pads, but even with the new pads you can smell the urine on the mattress. Two caveats: (1) Do not use for children who are likely to wet the bed, especially heavily and (2) ignore the company’s washing instructions and do not place in dryer. Hang dry. We washed and dried ours according to the company’s instructions. Nevertheless, the company insists our dryer must be “too hot” and refused to reimburse us the cost of returning the product to them for testing and refused to clean our new mattresses, as advertised. We have another Protect a Bed pad for our adult bed and haven’t had any problems, but so far my husband and I haven’t wet the bed. Bottom line: not a good product for young children.

I have had the EXACT same problem as LR notes above. I recently purchased 2 new mattresses for my 2 young daughters (one is night training). The PAB mattress cover worked like a charm for a few accidents and then one time the mattress was totally soaked. I had the same response from teh company – dryer too hot. They replaced the cover, I dried the new one on medium-low (they recommend medium) with linens and two very heavy oversized towels (as they recommend). I inspected the cover when i took it out and it had the small perforations on the back/waterproof aside (which was the problem with our original cover). I can’t imagine we have that unique of a dryer, never ruined any clothes. I am not sure what my nect option is but I definitely do not want these and am pursuing a refund. The store where I bought them is planning to discontinue selling them due to my experience.
