Paper Mate Plant A Pen Challenge

37 Flares 37 Flares ×

Did you that you can take steps to save the earth simply by choosing the right pen or pencil?

Paper Mate has launched a line of eco-friendly pens and pencils which are biodegradable. After the ink has run out or the lead has been used up, you can take the writing utensil apart and “plant” it in your garden.

I thought this was a wonderful opportunity to teach Kora & Logan a little bit about being green. We received a set of mechanical pencils and pens to try out and then to plant.

I tried to explain to the kids how the pens will help the garden grow, but they had a really tough time understanding why we didn’t just throw them away. I know now we need to make the environment more of a focus in our family life.

While the kids didn’t quite understand why they were planting the pens, they did enjoy doing so.

This will be a great project for us all to check on the pens every so often and see how they are decomposing. I think it will be the first step in our family’s direction to being a little greener. After all, if we don’t take care of the environment now what’s going to be left for our children?

What about you? Would you consider your household to be green? Do you have any tips for us as we take our first steps in this direction?

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by  Mom Central on behalf of Paper Mate and received the products necessary to  facilitate my review. In addition, I will receive a gift certificate to thank me  for taking the time to participate.
