Tired Dad Dave has always been intrigued with VoIP devices. Truthfully, I didn’t understand much about them, until now. We recently installed netTALK Duo and I have to say I’m pretty impressed both with VOIP and the netTALK Duo.
VOIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol or Voice Over IP – basically it is phone service over the internet. If you have a quality internet connection you can get phone service through the internet connection rather than from the phone company. The service providers usually offer lower rates than traditional phone companies which is one of the main reasons to use VOIP.
netTALK Duo is a VoIP device and digital phone service that allows you to make free local and long distance nationwide calls from anywhere in the world to any landline or mobile phone in the U.S. and Canada. The device can be run through a computer but it does not require one because it also plugs directly into a router or modem.

Do you see the difference?
That’s because there isn’t any. Since installing netTALK Duo we use our home phone in exactly the same way. The call quality is the same and it’s as if nothing changed. Any house guest who used our phone would never know that they were using our internet connection to make the call.
While we love that there’s no difference in the use of or quality of calls on our home phone since using the netTALK Duo, we also love how easy it is to set-up. Tired Dad Dave simply opened the box, pulled out the device, plugged it in and then activated it online in just a few simple steps.
