Tonight a new show premieres on USA and it’s one I can’t wait to watch. Necessary Roughness is the story of no-nonsense sports therapist Dr. Dani Santino (played by Callie Throne) whose life is turned upside down when her husband leaves her and her two teenagers. While life may be tough, she is surprised to learn that blessings really do come in disguise – or in Dr. Dani’s case – dressed in football uniforms.

Necessary Roughness

When Dani reports to her new job as sports therapist for the New York Hawks football team, she learns she has a line-up of unexpected new clients waiting for her, including receiver, Terrence King (played by Mehcad Brooks) who is a handful on his own. Entering this new stage in life, Dani is starting to realize she has a chance to start over, but to do so she’ll need to throw her playbook out the window.

Necessary Roughness

I’m excited to see this show because it’s about a mom trying to juggle everything life throws her way and every mom out there can relate to that!

I also like the sports focus of the show. I was always very involved in sports when I was younger. I played volleyball through high school and college, I coached collegiate volleyball for awhile, and at one time I was 3/4ths of the way through my Master’s Degree in Sports Management. But then life took some twists and turns and now I’m a stay-at-home mom and blogger. While I’m enjoying my life now, I always feel connected to women in sports, especially sports medicine.

Needless to say, I’ll be setting my DVR to record Necessary Roughness every Wednesday night at 10 pm EST on USA!

Check out the show trailer:

And here’s an awesome extended Sneak Peek where you’ll hear Dr. Dani list her specialties as “Chicken Parmasean, cognitive behavioral therapy, hypnosis, and kicking my patient’s butts.”

Looks like a great show and one that will appeal to many moms out there.
