National Fishing & Boating Week: Flip Cam Giveaway CLOSED

Did you know that every year the first week of June is National Fishing and Boating Week? It’s an exciting week with lots of opportunities to get out on the water and in some states even fish for free for a few days! This year National Fishing and Boating Week takes place from June 4th – 12th, 2011.

Did you also know that every fishing license, bait and tackle item, boat registration, or gallon of boat fuel sold puts dollars toward local conservation efforts? And that National Fishing and Boating Week is sponsored by TakeMeFishing.org where you can find all the best boating and tips and tricks for both the novice and advanced adventurers? It’s even got fishing reports, tips for fishing with kids,  lake and river maps, weather information, boat buying advice, fishing and boating trivia, and more.

Starting June 3, visit the Take Me Fishing Facebook page to upload a short video about a memory you have while fishing or boating with family or friends. The grand prize winner of this contest will receive an all-expenses paid vacation for four to one of four amazing locations including Orlando, Yellowstone National Park, Lake Michigan, or New Orleans! Plus they are giving away daily prizes throughout the month of June.

Kora and Logan talk about fishing all the time. Their Grandpa loves to fish and really has them excited to give it a try sometime.They’ve been out on his boat twice.

The first time was about 3 years ago and Logan screeched and screamed the whole time because he didn’t want to wear his life jacket – he was only 2. So needless to say he scared all the fish away. The more recent time we all went out together Logan thought the boat was too loud and covered his ears the whole time only relaxing when we moved at a crawl – perfect fishing speed!

Kora loved being on the boat both times and was really excited when we told her that we received a new fishing rod and would be going fishing over Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately I’ll let Kora tell you what happened and why we didn’t get to go fishing.

Even though the bugs were too bad to go out last weekend we’ll get the kids out again sometime this summer. While fishing with two preschoolers isn’t quite as peaceful, as calm, or as relaxing as a typical fishing trip, it’s still good old-fashioned family fun!
