Mustela Hydra-Stick – Review

MustelaFrom the time he was a baby, Logan has struggled with extremely dry skin. At nearly every pediatrician appointment, I’ve brought it up and have always been told it may just be a touch of eczema, but isn’t severe. Even so, his legs, around his mouth, and his cheeks always seem so dry that I can’t see how it doesn’t drive him crazy. We try to keep him well moisturized, but during the winter it really seems to flair up. There’s been times when we’ve been out and his face becomes so red and irritated that I want to put something on it, but all I have in my purse is my scented hand lotion and that would just make things worse.

So I’ve been on a search for a purse-size lotion for severely dry skin that I would feel comfortable putting on his face.

It’s been tough to find and I think it’s because I’ve been looking for the wrong product. I was so focused on finding a lotion that I never even considered a moisturizing stick.

The Mustela Hydra-Stick with Cold Cream nutri-protecteur can be found under the Baby Products tab on the Mustela web site.

Mustela

It is a great product with Shea Butter, that not only moisturizes and soothes dry skin, but protects exposed skin as well. It is also hypoallergenic and according to the website, it’s specially formulated to minimize the risk of allergic reaction.

Thankfully so far this year, Logan hasn’t had any problems with his face while we’ve been out so I haven’t had to use it on him. But I had him pose for a quick picture, because with as cold as it’s been I know we will be using it soon!

While we haven’t had to use the Hydra-Stick on Logan yet, since I’ve been carrying it around for him, just in case, I have to admit that I’ve sneaked it out and used it on my hands a couple of times when they’ve been really dry. It helped ease the itch of the dryness immediately and I love that it’s so easy to apply and non-sticky either.

One of my favorite features is that it is so tiny, smaller than a business card, and because it’s kind of flat instead of round, it fits well in my purse or in Tired Dad Dave’s pants pocket and we barely notice it’s there. However, even though it is small and portable, it lasts forever which is important. It works so well it’s not something we want to be replacing every time we turn around.

We recommend the Mustela Hydra-Stick to anyone struggling with dry skin. It’s small, it’s convenient, it lasts a long time, it’s soothes, and it protects. What more could you ask for in a moisturizing stick?!
