Motorola Talkabout Two-Way Radio – Review

Every summer, Tired Dad Paul, the girls and I go to Northern Ontario, Canada to go camping for a week.  What we like the most about our trip is that we are secluded from all roads and traffic.  The only way to get to our camp is to park our car and take a ten minute boat ride to the cottage.  Since we take this vacation in Canada we are reluctant to use our cell phones on our trip due to the high cost of texting or calling.  So the Motorola Talkabout Two-Way Radio is going to come in very handy this summer and future summers while we are at the camp.

Motorola Talkabout 2 Way RadiosThe Talkabout Two-Way Radio will be very helpful to communicate with whoever is back at the cottage with Grayson while he is napping due to the 27-mile range since there the cottage is a distance from the others who are down at the beach.  We also take a two-mile hike to a lake upon the mountain to go fishing and are looking forward to staying within communication with those who remained back at the cottage in case of an emergency, the weather turns bad or dinner is ready.

Some of the other great features of these devices are an emergency alert mode that will repeat a message for 22 seconds, a built in flashlight, and 22 channels/frequencies.  You can access the weather channel and receive weather alerts which would be good in case bad storms and tornadoes might comes through our area which has been more frequent this Spring.

When the package arrived and we saw the walkie-talkies, the girls immediately wanted to play with them.  After a few hours, their Uncle Nathan came over and he wanted to use them too with the girls outside while Tired- Dad Paul and Tired-Mom Sarah were taking care of the house in preparation of Grayson’s arrival.

They tested the distance with their bikes; they used the telephone feature and ran up and down the stairs asking, “Can you hear me?” They were very creative in their playhouse and it made hide-and-seek a lot more fun.  Their Uncle would have one of the walkie-talkies and would hide.  The girls would take the other and look around the house and yard to try and find him.  In some case, Nathan would say “cold” or “hot” in order to give them clues as to where he was.

We enjoy the Motorola Talkabout Two-Way Radio and are excited about the peace of mind it will give us while on vacation.

These are great. My hubby and I have a pair. When we travel, I sometimes stay in the car while he takes off to go and take photos. We communicate by two-way radio because there isn’t cell phone reception. We go camping every summer. It’s a lot of fun; been doing it for years. Always take the two-way radios.
