I’ve always been fascinated by the Leap Frog products. About eight years ago we got one of our little cousins the LeapPad, the kind with the pen attached. We thought it was amazing at that time and it cost a fortune.
Since we’ve had kids, I found the LeapPads were difficult to use for little ones.
Always having to press “the green Go circle” whenever they turned a page would frustrate Kora & Logan. They would get irritated after a couple of pages and stop reading/playing.
Nowadays, Leap Frog has evolved and has invented the LeapFrog Tag Reading System.
We bought one for Kora last Christmas. It is incredible and worth every penny!
There are no green go circles. You download 5-6 books onto the pen and then you can open any page of any of those books and point to any word or picture and the pen will tell you what it is.
It can read an entire story like an audio book, it can read word-by-word. It can play games on each page. In Kora’s Ariel book, in the first couple of pages it asks her to choose a fancy word and then choose a gemstone. It then gives her a nickname like “Princess Sparkling Sapphire” which follows her throughout the book. Every now and then when she answers a question correctly it will say, “Good job, Princess Sparkling Sapphire.”
Also, another fascinating feature is if you hook the pen up to the computer by USB cord, it will keep track of your child’s progress. It will then send you emails letting you know how many questions they answered correctly in each book and how long they spent reading each book.
Last Christmas we thought Logan might be too young for the Tag but we were wrong and he used Kora’s all the time. Just a month later we bought him one for his birthday too.
We’re glad we did. They play with them every day. They have so much fun with the pens and books and have learned so much.
The LeapFrog Tag Pens were by far our best holiday purchases and have been a great investment into Kora & Logan’s education too.
Nothing was received for this review. We love Leapfrog’s Tag Pens around here so much that I wanted to shared this post with my readers. The opinions are mine, yours may differ.
