I’m sad to say it but summer is coming to an end. It’s funny because as I’m writing this it’s 80 degrees outside but the cooler weather is headed this way. The kids and I have noticed leaves on the trees are starting to change. There’s even a few fluttering to the ground every now and then. It won’t be long before the air is crisp and the trees are blazing with color.
While I do love the colors of fall, I’m not a fan of colder weather and rain. Let alone snow. Ack. Don’t even get me started thinking about winter. I hate being cold. There’s nothing fun about shivering to me or having to bundle up in five layers just to go get the mail.
I always joke that I become a hermit in fall and winter. I do everything I can not to go outside. That’s why I love online shopping. I can do almost everything I need to do snuggled in my sweatshirt and slippers, under a fluffy blanket, with a pumpkin spice latte in hand and my laptop or tablet on my lap.
It’s fun being able to shop for so many things online. I’ll buy the kids new seasonal clothes and items on sale, decor for the house, books I’ve been meaning to read, birthday and holiday gifts, and more. There’s so many sites out there offering great deals, or exclusive limited edition items, or the opportunity to personalize or customize almost anything that it really makes online shopping from the comfort of my couch so much fun.
While I enjoy online shopping I’m also aware that have to be very careful of online safety. You hear so many stories of online identity theft that it’s important to make sure that when shopping online you are doing so securely. Online shopping makes you especially vulnerable because you are giving up a lot of personal information: your name, your address to ship the products, your phone number is usually required for shipping, and of course your credit card information as well. That is a lot of information floating out there in cyberspace.
While most reputable shopping websites are safe it’s always good to have a backup plan. That’s why I’m excited to be a Hotspot Shield Ambassador. Hotspot Shield is a wonderful service that helps keep your computer safe and it protects your data as well. It’s been downloaded more than 150 million times already and it’s been featured by the New York Times, Fast Company, CNN, Fox, and more. It’s available for Mac, Windows, iPhones, iPads, and Android devices.
Hotspot Shield is a good tool to have if you are online shopping because it offers:
- Secure Shopping Transactions Through HTTPS – which keeps your credit card info safe when you shop online
- Private & Secure Browsing – which keeps your passwords, financial transactions, and other data from ending up in the wrong hands
- Malware Protection – you’ll be alerted if you visit sites that are known to contain malware & those sites will be blocked
I know over the next few months I’ll be doing a lot more online shopping and I’m happy Hotspot Shield is there to keep everything safe and secure.
What about you? Do you love online shopping too?
