Tired Dad Dave hates kids music. We have a few cd’s of sing-song nursery rhyme type music in the car and you can hear him grumble under his breath when the kids ask to listen to it. There are some days I find myself agreeing with him. After a tough day I just can’t take the squeaky, whiny cheesy voices of most kids music. But Kora and Logan have started to sing along and it really is cute.
Luckily the group, Laughing Pizza, has set out to break the mold of children’s music. Laughing Pizza is comprised of award winning songwriters and parents, Lisa and Billy, and their 14-year-old daughter, Emily.
On a recent car trip we popped in their recent new release, Let’s Go Play. Kora and Logan immediately loved it and I also found myself bopping to the beat. The music is far from the typical hokey songs usually aimed at kids. In fact, it had a bit of a Hannah Montana flair to it. The songs all have wonderful messages too. The title track orders kids to get up off the couch and get moving, to get outside. Kora really liked the song, If You Believe. She said, “Mommy, the song said when you’re sad to look inside your heart and you’ll feel happy!” She thought that was wonderful and I was more than happy she picked up on such a positive lyric.
We also watched the dvd, It’s Pizza Time. Like most kids, Kora and Logan usually just stare blank-faced at the screen when a kids show is on. On occasion, Dora or Diego will have them doing a movement or two or repeating a few words here and there. It’s Pizza Time had them up off the couch dancing, spinning, and jumping.
It’s tough to take pictures of kids dancing with a point-and-shoot but you get the idea.
Tired Dad Dave doesn’t grump as much when we put Laughing Pizza on in the car and everytime I’ve put the DVD on the kids are up and dancing. I recommend it to anyone whose kids love music, it’s lots of fun in such a positive way.
Laughing Pizza’s new release, Let’s Go Play, can be previewed at Amazon.com where you can also read other parents thoughts on the group and it’s music. For $8.99 you can download the entire album

She’s looking at him with such happiness! You can tell they’re having fun!
Such a great deal! Looks like they had a lot of fun!
Ok, I trust you… My sister bought the kids a four-disk set and after a while I sort of “misplaced” them. Quite by accident… LOL!
I love that picture! I am gonna have to look into this cd – gotta love “un barney” like kid music!
I hope this is on amazon. I’d love to hear the difference!
I love me some dancing kids!
I’ll have to check them out. I love all things music.. even kids!
Cool. My feelings about kid’s music often runs along the lines of our husbands but I love anything that makes my kids feeling energized and good about themselves. I will check that out.

Thanks so much for your review on this. I’ve been looking for something like this for my 4 year old. She needs music for her age and something that makes them feel good about theirselves as well as making them get up and dance and move around is just what I want.
