Kissimmee, Florida – Family Vacation Fun

16 Flares 16 Flares ×

When I was growing up we used to take a family vacation at least once a year. One of my favorite memories is of visiting Kissimmee, Florida. I remember it well because I loved the name, it just sounded so happy and a little funny at the same time.

My other memory of this vacation is a little odd, but I think of it every time I hear the name Kissimmee. It’s of an extravagantly decorated, mirrored bathroom in a fancy restaurant. This bathroom was accented in gold and the octagonal shaped room was covered in mirrors – so much so you couldn’t tell which mirrored panel was the wall and which was a door until someone came out. It was a surprise when we walked in and was the talk of the tourists eating dinner.

Aside from the bathroom, I also remember how close Kissimmee was to Disney World. It was a wonderful trip full of surprises and so much fun.

I can’t wait to go back to Kissimmee some day. I would love to stay at the Radisson Orlando Celebration Resort.

It sounds like a fabulous place to take Kora & Logan. Not only does it have 3 pools including one with a waterslide, but most mornings there’s a face painting clown, arts and crafts around one of the pools, bingo, hair braiding, free tennis lessons, juggling classes, magic shows, and more! So much fun! They also offer a Kids Eat Free option for breakfast and dinner in 2 of their 3 restaurants.

While we could easily laze our days away at the hotel pools, which would make Kora & Logan really happy, there are so many other activities and things to do in Kissimmee. Some of the things on our must do list would be:

Disney World (of course!) Downtown Disney Cirque Du Solei La Nouba Old Town

There is just so much to see and do in Kissimmee this post could go on far too long listing every incredible attraction (Gatorland, airboat rides, hot air balloon rides, horseback riding, mini-golf…), shopping venue (Prime Outlets, Orlando Premium Outlets, The Florida Mall, Old Town…), and restaurant (Mambo Cuban Restaurant, Nature’s Table, Tarantino’s…).

If you’re planning Florida vacation be sure to stop by the Kissimmee Convention and Visitor’s Bureau website. It’s a wonderful site that is full of information about the area with detailed descriptions about where to stay, what to do, and where to eat.

I can’t wait to get back to Kissimmee someday. Yes, partly because I want to see if that fancy bathroom is still there, but mostly because it’s an incredible place to visit and would make a wonderful family vacation.

Since I’m sharing one of my favorite vacation memories, I’d love to read one of yours. What’s one of your favorite vacation memories?
