Jealousy and the Turkey Sandwich

I confess. I have a jealous streak.

And before you say anything, it’s has nothing to do with other women.

Since becoming a stay-at-home mom, whenever Tired Dad Dave tells me he went out to lunch during work, I immediately get jealous.

I love to eat out and even though we do so fairly frequently, I almost never get out of the house for lunch.

The funny thing is, Tired Dad Dave is in the process of becoming a work-at-home dad, so his going-out-for-lunch days are numbered. Last week while rearranging our basement to make room for his new office, he seemed unusually happy to be eating a turkey sandwich every day for lunch. Maybe he was jealous that I got to eat at home all the time?

Anyway, thanks to Chevy I did get a chance to get out of the house for lunch recently. This week our Chevy Girls on the Go mission was to take the Malibu out to lunch with a girlfriend. So off my friend and I went, leaving Tired Dad Dave home with the kids and his turkey sandwiches.

It was wonderful to get out and see one of my friends during the day. We ate at a local restaurant known for it’s overstuffed sandwiches, which are so delicious! We talked about life, family, kids, and the new Malibu. She loved it and thought it might be a good fit for her family as well. After gabbing away for longer than we planned for, it was time to say our good-byes. I drove her home in the Malibu while listening to a few tunes on the XM radio. Yes, yes, we have taken the long way, but who’s telling?

Here’s a video slide show of our lunchtime adventure.

What about you? Do you like going to a restaurant for lunch or do you prefer to stay home and enjoy a good turkey sandwich?

Thank you to Chevy for providing the Malibu for review and for the gift card for lunch. No compensation was received.

The sandwiches sound lovely…I too get that twinge of jealousy when my husband goes out for lunch. Especially since he usually goes to one of my favorite places!

I love eating out and my son treated me to lunch out today! But it’s not practical to eat out every single day, so I’m totally fine with lunch in most of the time, and yes, I do love a good turkey sandwich! :)

I was cracking up reading this. You could be describing my family, except for the fact that my husband is NOT happy about having to eat a turkey sandwich for lunch occasionally (OK, 4 days in a row this week). He would much rather it be one of those days where he is getting seafood or steak for lunch…so jealous of those days.
