On our road trip back from our family reunion in Charleston, we were excited to stop overnight at the Hyatt Place Greensboro.
It was the perfect place to stop for a rest on our trip. The lobby was inviting and I was very impressed by the courtesy of those at the front desk.
They were friendly, kind, and attentive. I appreciated the short tour I was given of the lobby area as well as the fitness center and e-room.
I was also glad they pointed out that while there were no vending machines available throughout the hotel, a Grab n’ Go Case was available that offered salads, sandwiches, bottled beverages, muffins, and cookies. That evening Dave snuck past the sleeping kids and bought some of the best chocolate chips cookies ever. They even served them warm. Yum!
Our room was lovely. The first thing that caught our eye was the long and comfortable couch.
It pulled out into a bed and Kora and Logan were thrilled to sleep on it.
Across from the couch was a nice desk and a small bar area with a sink and mini-fridge.
I thought the single-cup coffee maker and selection of coffees and teas was a nice touch.
There was a wall that separated the bedroom from the living area but it didn’t reach across the room. Instead, the tv was mounted between the two rooms and could be angled for better viewing depending on which room you were in.
The bathroom was nice and the counter space was spacious which we took full advantage of getting ready the next morning!
The king Hyatt Grand Bed was comfortable and cozy.
I wrote above that we snacked on chocolate chip cookies from the lobby and must also mention the chocolates we had from Loco for Coca. Divine! If you are in the area and you are a chocolate lover, these will hit the spot.
In the morning we were excited to try the Hyatt Place’s new (and always free) breakfast – the a.m. Kitchen Skillet. We were seeing advertising for it everywhere – in our room, throughout the hotel, and even in the elevator. It did it’s job and made us hungry!
The a.m. Kitchen Skillet is unique because it offers a selection of brand new freshly prepared signature breakfast sandwiches including:
- Hyatt Place Signature Sandwich – potato roll, egg patty, Applewood smoked bacon, and sliced Gouda cheese
- Santa Fe Bagel – whole wheat bagel thin, egg patty, ham, spinach, tomato, and chipotle mayo
- Classic Muffin – English muffin, egg patty, cheddar cheese, and ham
- Sunrise Croissant – croissant, egg patty, spinach, mushrooms, and Muenster cheese
- Southwest Biscuit – biscuit, egg patty, turkey, pepper jack cheese, tomato, roasted green salsa
The morning we were there the breakfast sandwich of the day was the Classic Muffin.
It was delicious, filling, and full of flavor. It was so popular that the chefs had to continually refill the muffin pans every few minutes. While guests were enjoying the sandwiches in the dining room, we did notice that they were also very popular with those on the go. Guests would come in and grab 4 or 5 sandwiches for the road or to take up to their rooms.
I though this was a brilliant idea. It allows you to have a warm breakfast even if you are crunched for time.
We got up early to continue our trip but were happy to have a short respite from the road and enjoyed our breakfast in the dining room.
While we loved the hot sandwiches, the other breakfast items were wonderful as well. The french toast was delicious.
Logan loved the Bowls section which included some of his favorite breakfast foods: oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese, lots of toppings, a variety of cereals, and fresh fruit.
Kora was a fan of the Bread Box station which offered mini-muffins, breads, and other pastry items as well as bagels with cream cheese.
There was a nice selection of juices and they also had a coffee and tea station as well.
We were pleased to see menus available with other items to purchase as well.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt Place Greensboro and would recommend it to anyone in the area. More than 100 Hyatt Place locations are now offering the a.m. Kitchen Skillet and we can’t recommend the breakfast enough. It was unique, delightful, satisfying – perfect for those enjoying their morning in the hotel or those on the go.

This hotel looks great! I live about a hour away. If I ever decide to spend a night in Greensboro, I’m definitely going to look into staying here. Thanks for the review!
Yum. The picture of the breakfast skillets going are enough reason to visit the restaurant!

Really nice hotel with lots of personal touches. I have stayed a Hyatt hotel in Houston and its always nice.
that breakfast looks awesome
We live about 1 hour 20 min away from Greensboro. Amazing room and service the Hyatt offers. We have stayed at a few Hyatts and were extremely happy. Once in San Francisco and again in Maryland. Been a while haven’t been traveling in a long time. love your reviews, I feel like I’m there with you. We may get away once I get my medical problems settled down some. I will be looking for a Hyatt when we do get to travel. Thanks for very detailed review.
Free breakfasts have really made traveling easier, and cheaper. We took an 83-day trip in ’07 and it was a lifesaver.
Your kids look so happy! That’s the best recommendation of all.
I’ve always liked staying at Hyatt Hotels but have never stayed at a Hyatt Place. Now I’ll be on the lookout! Everything sounds really nice, especially the breakfast – yummy choices with lots of healthy options!
What a great way to start a day with a filling breakfast, Looks like a fantastic hotel!
What a great hotel! I love finding a real breakfast, not just yogurt and cereal! Those sandwiches look so yummy!
It looks like fun with lots of yummies :)
Looks like a very nice hotel! I usually book hotels that come with breakfast. Just a nice little perk!
