Spring! Don’t you just love it? Birds singing, flowers popping open, the warm gentle breezes. Oh yes, it means one more thing. Deep cleaning your deck.

Trust me our deck is always a mess after the winter. We hang a bird feeder in our family room window, so we get quite an accumulation of bird messes. I go out every spring, look at it and say “yuck.” In past years, we’ve swept it, shop vacuumed it, or used a garden hose to spray it off.
That’s why I’m excited about the HomeRight Deck Washer is a broom that attaches to your garden hose and it has 14 holes for the water to power its way through to do a deep cleaning. The bristles are firm and sturdy.
Randy started out just using this broom, but was so impressed, he decided to do a power wash comparison. The broom held up its end. It did a very close job to the power washer. We were pleased with the results and are happy we don’t have to haul out the power washer every time we want to clean the deck now.
A week or so later we had play sand delivered for the grandchildren’s sandbox. After 60 or so wheel barrels full, we finally reached bottom. I am sure I don’t need to tell you we ordered way too much. We now have sand piles around trees and in flowerbeds. Places I didn’t even know we need sand!
But now we were faced with the driveway full of the remnants.
I hooked up the garden hose and started spraying. It was taking forever and I had barely started moving the sand. I thought about hooking up the power washer, but didn’t want to go through the trouble.
Then I remembered the new Deck Washer broom.
I connected it to the garden hose and was off.
The jets of water forced the sand down the driveway and the broom with its stiff bristles pushed it along easily. A job that was becoming tedious moved along quickly. With just a few pushes the sand was rushing towards road.
To get the sand out of the cracks, I tilted the broom and let the force of the water do its work. After I was done, I looked the broom over, and even after all that work on a cement driveway it still looked as good as new.
The Deck Washer has an on/off attachment which is nice if you have to leave it for a few minutes. You don’t have to worry about water pooling in on spot. It has an aluminum handle which makes it light and easy to use and the broom is 13 inches wide with stiff bristles that quickly removes dirt and debris.
We will be using the HomeRight Deck Washer to maintain the deck from the normal dirt dirt that accumulates through the summer. It certainly beats the other ways we attempted to maintain it.
Looks better than a power washer which can damage the smooth surface of the wood!!
I’d never seen or heard of this – but I really appreciate your review (and the intro!) We are going to have our large front porch and backyard decks rebuilt (after taking out a rather hefty Home Equity loan!) and once these big (expensive!) jobs are completed – we really want to exercise due-diligence with loving care and maintenance without the backbreaking drudgery we usually associate with such chores! Thanks Tesa.
How neat is that! Someone was really thinking when they thought of this!
This looks better than a pressure washer. I made the mistake of pressure washing my deck and it resulted in white fibers appearing all over the deck.
Could really use this. I’m sure we could find many outdoor uses for it
My parents could definitely use this on their deck! It’s always so tough to clean!
Ohhh we could really use this!
Looks really cool!
oh my goodness this would make the perfect gift for my dad. He loves things like this!
oh wow! That’s a pretty cool tool! Seriously makes deck washing easy. I need this too cause I have chickens….enough said. LOL :)
This looks like a great way to clean with out using the power washer. I hate how much water is wasted when we power wash. Sometimes we just need more then the regular hose but not the power washer. I love this. I will have to show it to my husband. Thanks for the post.
That is cool! I might have to get one of those for our deck!
This would be good for outer walls and maybe screens, too.
This is cool!
