This is going to be an exciting few months! Since we moved from Ohio we have been putting off remodeling our house until we were settled and had lived in it long enough to decide exactly what we want done. We are finalizing some plans and will be finally ready to start remodeling soon!
This post is sponsored by Sears Home Services.
We’ve got a lot to do. We have minor projects and major projects in mind.
Here’s a look at some of the things we want to do:
Take down wallpaper – We have some wallpaper that is very dated and in some odd places – like our bathroom ceiling and even in the shower!
Take out the carpet and put in laminate flooring – The house came with very cheap carpet and it’s looking atrocious these days. It has no padding underneath and it shows every possible mud track or dirty dog paw stain. I can’t wait to get rid of it and put in laminate flooring. We’d also replace the tile in the kitchen and the parquet flooring in the office.
Open up the kitchen to the living room – We really like the idea of a more open floor plan and our kitchen is a bit small so opening it up to the living room would give us lots of extra space and the look we want, plus whoever is making dinner can still hang out with the family in the living room
Build a patio out back – We’d love to build a patio out back with french doors off our dining room leading out to it. We have lots of wildlife here and it would be wonderful to sit out back and watch the birds, bunnies, and deer while enjoying our morning coffee.
Replace all of our windows – our house is full of every kind of window you could imagine and the ones that aren’t that old aren’t that effective or efficient. We really want to replace them all and bring the house up to date while also giving ourselves the ability to open our living room windows or not have the winter winds blow through the bedroom windows.
Turn the sunroom into our master bedroom & add on – One of our more lofty goals is to turn the sun room, which we never use, into our master bedroom complete with bathroom and nice size closet. We’d then move Kora out of her tiny bedroom and into our old bigger bedroom which she would love.
It’s quite a list and as I said it’s full of little jobs and big jobs. Since home remodeling can be costly I have been browsing the offers at Sears Home Services. I see there is a window replacement promotion running right now where we can save $525 on window purchases over $1500. That’s great! There’s also offers for:
- New countertops
- New flooring
- HVAC replacement
- Siding replacement
- Kitchen remodels
- Bathroom remodels
- Roofing improvement
- …and more.
I was also interested to learn that Sears Home Services has been around for more than 125 years. I know what you mean about remodeling the house. So many things to do and it needs to be done in my house. I want to remodel the laundry room and make it more efficient!
We just painted our kitchen walls this past weekend and it turned out great. Sounds like you have a long list of things to do! We do too but can’t afford most of what we want to do.
I hate taking sown wall paper, such a tedious job, but so worth it. Turning the sunroom into a master bedroom is a great idea, you’ll love it.
These are some great deals! I wish we could remodel this place, but we’re renting. We’re thinking of painting though which should add a nice difference.
