I am excited to announce that I was selected to be a Camp Counselor for HERSHEY’S CAMP BONDFIRE this week! Visit HERSHEY’S Facebook Page and click the CAMP BONDFIRE tab where you can learn all about our recent CAMPFIRE GATHER ROUND as well as tips for hosting your own fun campfire party.
Each week throughout the summer two bloggers will be featured as Camp Counselors and will showcase their ideas, activities, photos, videos, and Pinterest boards around their weekly theme. It’s a fantastic place to get party ideas for the summer!
At our CAMPFIRE GATHER ROUND we had a wonderful time getting together with Kora and Logan’s grandparents and cousins. We started our campfire early in the day and later had to move inside. Throughout it all the S’mores were the hit of the party!
While there are many unique s’mores recipes out there we kept it simple and traditional. We roasted marshmallows over our fire pit and then rested them on top of a block of HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate and sandwiched it all between two graham crackers.
The S’mores were delicious and it wasn’t long before the kids were asking for seconds!
Here’s a quick video of Kora and Logan thoughts on the S’mores they enjoyed before the party – don’t tell their cousins! :)
Our CAMPFIRE GATHER ROUND was a fun get together and a wonderful way to celebrate summer.
To prepare for the event I browsed the internet for campfire ideas and saved all of my favorites to my CAMPFIRE GATHER ROUND Pinterest board.
There are so many great campfire ideas out there. I didn’t come across the glow-in-the-dark bubbles until after our party but thought it was such a unique and fun idea that I had to add it!
We really had a fantastic time at our campfire party and my favorite memories are those of the kids all having fun together.
They had chocolate on their faces, they were giggling and smiling, and we truly enjoyed our family get together.
One particular memory that stood out was once as Kora was eating her S’more and as she took a bite, the marshmallow stretched and stretched and stretched! She lifted the S’more as high as she could to see how far it would go. It went higher than her head and it had all the kids laughing! It was so cute!
Since we all love S’mores I was excited to learn about a few fun facts about S’mores and HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate:
- August 10th is National S’mores Day – Yum!
- S’mores originated from the words “Some More”
- The first printed recipe for S’mores appeared in a Girl Scouts handbook in 1927
- Milton Hershey first introduced the HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate Bar in 1900
We had a fantastic time at our CAMPFIRE GATHER ROUND and I’m thrilled to be this week’s HERSHEY’S CAMP BONDFIRE Camp Counselor. Be sure to take a minute to “Like” the HERSHEY’S Facebook Page to see our campfire tips and to meet the other Camp Counselor, Janel from A Mom’s Take. Her ideas are amazing and so creative!
And while you’re there sign up to be a HERSHEY’S CAMP BONDFIRE Camper. As a camper you’ll have the opportunity to add your photos to the Fireside Memory Book. On top of that, each week one lucky fan will selected as “Camper of the Week” and will win an outdoor fire pit!
Good luck!
What about you? What are some of your favorite campfire activities & ideas? Have you had S’mores yet this summer?
