Guinness World Record Day is coming to Cedar Point on Sunday, July 31st! The park will try to break two world records and welcomes the public to become a part of history by participating in the record breaking events.

Cedar Point Guinness World Record Day

The first record will be for the most beach balls up in the air at one time and the second is for the greatest number of people applying sunscreen at once. Both records will attempt to be broken on the Main Midway in front of Johnny Rockets and Kiddie Kingdom prior to the rides opening for the day.

To celebrate Guinness World Record Day park admission tickets will be on sale online at cedarpoint.com for only $36, which is a savings of nearly $12 per ticket. The special one-day only tickets are valid for Sunday, July 31st only. And a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Northern Ohio Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Those interested in participating in helping break the world records need to be at the park by 9:00 am in order to be counted for the first event which takes place at 9:30 am. The first event will be for the most beach balls in the air at one time. It is a new record and to qualify 250 beach balls must be juggled individually for at least 10 seconds. If a ball is dropped, that participant ball is subtracted from the total.

The sunscreen application record will immediately follow. The current record for the largest amount of people applying sunscreen is 675 and was just recorded on June 25th, 2011. During the event, participants must continually apply sunscreen for 2 minutes or they will not be counted.

  2. Oh, how fun! I wish I had known about this; we might have gone to participate. My family is part of a group of nearly 4,000 people who hold the Guinness World Record for the most Waldos (as in ‘Where’s?) in one place. Most fun ever!!

  3. Wonder how they came up with two minutes of sunscreen. That’s a whole lotta rubbing.
