Tired Mom Tésa and myself like to drink a glass (or two or three) of wine every now and then. It’s great to relax and enjoy a glass of wine either with dinner, or while hanging out together and having a peaceful evening once the kids are in bed. Recently we were excited to have the opportunity to sample and review wine from flipflop Wines.
When the wine arrived, we were happy to see that we would be trying the Pinot Noir (Tired Mom Tésa’s favorite), the Pinot Grigio and the Reisling. The day we received the wine, we thought it was a perfect day to have some wine that evening!
The wine came with a pleasant surprise – intriguing basic literature about the winery and the owner. The people at flipflop Wines started the company in 2009, under the umbrella of Underdog Wine Merchants, with the goal to develop a wine and brand that is full of character, expressive and well balanced, all while being affordable for people of all economic levels. The flipflop wine collection consists of Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Moscato for the whites, and Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon for their reds. With this goal they have a recommended retail price of only Seven Dollars per bottle. This is a very reasonable price point for a good bottle of wine.
All of our bottles were full of flavor and very smooth. In a lot of the lower cost wines, there is a bitter taste which is not very smooth, but that was not our experience with these wines. At this price, you get a great value for your dollar.
In 2011, flipflop wines and Underdog Wine Merchants started a partnership with Soles4Souls. Did you know that over 300 million children do not have shoes? In a short time this partnership has already donated over 100 thousand pairs of shoes. For every bottle of flipflop wine that is sold, at 7 dollars a bottle, flipflop wines will donate 1 pair of shoes to help with this problem. This partnership is dedicated to reaching a goal of donating 11 million pairs of shoes in this year alone. Soles4Souls since its inception in 2004 has provided more than 13 million pairs of shoes to people in need. This is a very worthy cause and very honorable of flipflop wines to step up and take on the responsibility to assist with this issue.
To sum up our experience with flipflop Wines, we were very pleased, and will drink them again. Again, these bottles of wine are a great value and they support a great cause. Next time you are in the store going through the wine isle, pick up a bottle and give flipflop wines a try. You will be pleasantly surprised with your experience, your wallet will not take a big hit, and even more importantly, you will be assisting to help someone else in need by giving them a pair of shoes.
The products were provided for review. No compensation was received. The honest opinions are my own and that of my family.
