Summer is my favorite season. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, the grass is green, the birds are singing, and the flowers are full of color. It’s the perfect opportunity to spend time together and to create special memories. That’s why I am excited to work with The Motherhood and Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom Ice Cream on this sponsored post to share with you my sweet summer moments and tricks for a little “me time.”
While I love having Kora & Logan home all summer, it gets tricky finding a bit of time to myself. I don’t require a lot, however, as a mom to an active 6 & 7-year-old I’ve found that getting a moment to myself here and there to recharge helps me enjoy our summer time together all the more.
What’s the main component of my summer “me time?” Ice cream of course!
One of my favorite ways to relax, slow down, and enjoy the summer is to pull out a lawn chair and blog from the backyard with a delicious bowl of Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom Banana Split ice cream in hand. It’s full of flavor and is creamy, sweet, and a wonderful treat.
It wonderful being in the backyard instead of inside the house on a beautiful day. I love watching the clouds roll by, the birds fly overhead, and the kids tumble all over the yard. If I get them outside to play in the backyard it’s amazing how long they can entertain themselves while I sit and savor the moment or at least until my ice cream is gone.
Then I’m up joining them in a game of catch, tag, chalk drawing, bubble blowing, playing horseshoes, and more. If I’m not participating, I usually can’t resist and end up snapping a photo or two (or fifty) to make sure I capture all of these sweet summer moments because I know they won’t last forever.
I also recently have discovered the joy of flavored coffees and my mother-in-law taught me a neat trick. Put a scoop of ice cream in the bottom of a coffee mug or glass and cover it with iced or frozen coffee. It’s divine!
They love ice cream and neither of them eat quickly. They talk and make up stories and play with pens, pencils, paper, their utensils, whatever they can find on the table. It never bothers them that their ice cream eventually turns into soup. They love it just the same and while they are enjoying chatting together I get to relax for a few minutes with a bowl, or a cone, or a bar of ice cream myself.
We are looking forward to a fun, fantastic, and exciting summer. It is lining up to be one of our most exciting and we can’t wait to make some wonderful memories together. With a freezer full of Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom ice cream, we’ll be sure to take time to slow down and savor the moments and sweet memories along the way.
What about you? What are some of your favorite sweet summer moments?
