Fifteen Minutes Outside: 365 Ways to Get Out of the House & Connect with Your Kids – Book Review

I was happy when I had a chance to review Fifteen Minutes Outside: 365 Ways to Get Out of the House and Connect with Your Kids by Rebecca P. Cohen.  With two active young children in the house, I am always looking for ways to keep them busy. They both enjoy being outdoors, so this book seemed perfect for them.

15 Minutes Outside Book Review

Over the years, I have read quite a few books on activities for children. Many of the ideas in the other books seemed to be the same ones repeated over and over.  I found this book to have new and unique ideas. There is one activity listed for each day of the month. There were plenty of gardening tips, such as how to build a planter box, and seed growing tips as well.

I found most of the activities to be simple and easy to accomplish. However, there were a couple of activities that just weren’t practical for my area, such as a sunrise breakfast outside in January. Even bundled up it would be too cold.

Some of my favorite activities include taking a sketchbook to the park and having the kids draw what they see, plan a monarch way station, play the game “what’s beautiful today?”, winter golf and race to spot the most critters.

Overall, I would recommend Fifteen Minutes Outside to anyone looking for different activities for their children and a new ideas to get out of the house.

The product was provided for review. No compensation was received. The honest opinions are my own and that of my family.
