Print Photos from Anywhere – Epson PrintJini App & Artisian Printer Review

Travel. It’s a big part of our lives here in the 2 Wired 2 Tired household. Since I’m originally from Michigan, most of my side of the family lives there and we head up there as often as we can. We also enjoy taking weekend trips once a month or so and, when possible, a longer annual vacation. On top of that, since Tired Dad Dave works in sales he’s on the road every now and then attending meetings, appointments with customers, and continuing education classes.

I bring up the discussion of all of our traveling because often we wish we could easily print photos or files while away from home. It’s generally a passing thought,  where we find ourselves saying, “Wouldn’t that be nice?” Well, now it can be done!

Epson has come up with a fantastic app for those wish to print while away from the computer. PrintiJini is an mobile printing app that allows Epson users to print Web pages and email attached documents including photos, PDF’s, and files on-the-go. The app works with the Epson Wireless All-in-One printers and the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

Epson PrintJini Review

I recently had the chance to try PrintJini using an Epson Artisan 835 printer and was so impressed!

First, I tried printing Web pages. It was a snap! I entered the Web site address, clicked “Preview, ” and then “Print.” My printed page came out quickly. The print preview looked identical to the one on my desktop and once the page was printed you would never know I printed it from my phone.

Next, I accessed my email account where the app searched for and only displayed emails with attachments.

Here’s a 4X6 photo I printed. It’s so crisp, clear, and cute – I love it!

Here’s a Word Document. As you can see it previews exactly like it prints. PrintJini will also print Excel and Powerpoint documents as well.

What I Like About PrintJini

  • It’s simple to use
  • Using a little guesswork, it’s fairly easy to set-up
  • It’s extremely convenient and very handy to be able to print while away from home or office
  • It would be great for anyone who travels a lot and would like to print photos or documents for someone else at home or at the office.
  • It’s free! Just download it from the Apple App Store.

I recommend the Epson PrintJini App to anyone who needs or wants to print while away from their computer. It’s definitely something you didn’t know you needed until you get it – and then you wonder how you managed before it!

I also want to mention a few things about the Epson Artisan 835 Color Inkjet All-In-One printer that I used to test out the PrintJini app. This printer is amazing! It has a smart touch panel where you can easily edit photos, it offers incredibly fast photo printing speeds, and it prints gorgeous crisp, clear photos. It’s a 5-in-1 Wireless printer that offers the ability to print, scan, copy, fax, and edit photos and it does it all wirelessly.

What I Like About the Epson Artisan 835

The large touch panel screen is wonderful. It’s simple to use and it reacts quickly. I also like that I can tilt it up and down so that I can see it better, no matter the angle I’m looking at or the amount of light hitting it.

I love that it prints quickly, but with at a high-quality too. Here’s a video of the Epson Artisan 835 printing a 4X6 color photo:

So fast! Gorgeous (and adorable) photos too!

Another favorite feature of mine is that it scans and copies too. Our flatbed scanner stopped working more than a year ago and I’ve really missed it for scanning and copying. This printer does both and I don’t have to have a seperate scanner taking up space.

I didn’t set-up the fax feature yet, but think it will be wonderful to have on hand whenever Tired Dad Dave needs to send or receive a fax for work (since he works out of our house). Some of the fax features include: faxes in color, faxes legal-size documents, faxes in 3 seconds, stores up to 60 speed dial numbers, and it will receive up to 180 pages in memory. Impressive!

I also like that this printer has individual ink cartridges. It’s so frustrating when other printers require all of the colors to be replaced when only one is low or empty.

Epson Artisan Review

I would suggest that anyone looking for a high-quality and efficient photo printer check out the Epson Artisan 835 Color Inkjet All-In-One. Not only does it come recommended by us here at 2 Wired 2 Tired, but PCWorld.com rated it as one of the ten “Best Printers for Photos.” This printer produces amazing pictures, at super-fast speeds, and to top it all off, provides an incredible number of useful features that make it one of the best.

The products were provided for review. No compensation was received. The honest opinions are my own and that of my family.

  1. I love the fact that you can use it while you are away from home! Thanks for the great review!

  2. This sounds like an awesome printer. We have been talking about getting a new one. Ours is 6 years old. We will have to keep this one in mind.

  3. I like the printer, but I’d have to see a comparison of ink costs over time. My HP drinks ink and the cartridges seem to be excluded from ink sales a lot. From the user posts on the HP website it looks like I’m not alone. I had an Epson once and wouldn’t mind going back.

  4. Hmmm very interesting. I have been looking for a home printer. Very cool concept!

  5. Sounds like a great printer.

  6. Hi Tesa, like u I also love Epson artisan 835 printer. The Epson Artisan 835 presents two neat print attributes which might be accessible through the machine only instead of bundled application. It may possibly print coloring book pages by making outlines of scanned pictures or photos, and it could also print thin, vast, or graph-ruled strains on letter or A4 report.

This sounds like a great printer! I really am in need of a new one and have heard some good things about the Epson ones.

  8. So, no matter where you are, it prints to your home/office printer? Can you use it to print at a local printer – since you might need a print out and don’t normally carry a printer?

I’m sorry, I guess I am a little bit confused.

    • Yes, it prints to whatever printer you have it set-up to work with as long as it’s an Espon Wireless and you are using an iPhone, iPod Touch or the iPad. Not sure what you mean about carrying a printer, but no, I don’t normally carry one with me! :) It wouldn’t work at a local printer, it has to be preset to an Epson Wireless – something you would have at work or at home most likely.
