Easy Lent Recipe – SeaPak Tilapia Tenders

Our family doesn’t like eating fish at all. Super Tired Dad Marc and I have given fish recipes a shot a few times, always resulting in “yuck” faces and usually a run to a drive-thru for another dinner. Tired Mom Kelli and her family reviewed popcorn fish from SeaPak a few months ago and raved about how wonderful they were. So, when the opportunity for some SeaPak products for Lent popped up I wanted to give fish another try.

During the Lenten season, millions of Catholics, Anglicans and others abstain from meat on Fridays. The SeaPak Shrimp Company offers ideal meatless meal alternatives: great-tasting, coastal seafood favorites. We received the Tilapia Tenders to try on the last Friday.

Mackenzie has never had fish so I made sure to really play up how exciting and fun giant fish nuggets for dinner were going to be – and that she could have a sandwich as a dinner backup as long as she tried the tenders.

Super Tired Dad Marc is the main chef in our house and he was gone for the evening so the tenders would definitely be up for an easy to prepare, yummy to eat challenge. They couldn’t have been easier – just pop in the oven for 10 minutes, flip and bake 10 more minutes. Even I can handle that!

The Tilapia Tenders came out of the oven nice and crispy and smelling wonderful!

I didn’t really think the girls would like them so I only made 1 tender each for them. Well, Mackenzie gobbled down her one, took half of mine and then wanted me to turn the oven on to bake the rest!

She declared they were the super duper yummiest dinner she had ever had and I needed to go to the store right away and buy 100 more boxes!

And I have to say – I completely agree with her! The tenders were wonderful, not greasy or fishy tasting at all. Emma ate a whole one too, covered in ketchup of course.

I was so impressed I sent Super Tired Dad Marc a text message about the yummy dinner he missed out on.

Oh dear, I see they have breading on them, so they have been deep-fried most likely. Thanks for posting the photos so I could see them. No, these aren’t for us. I am always looking for fish recipes.
