Disney on Ice: Toy Story 3 – Review

Disney on IceLast year we had the chance to attend Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate! and both kids loved it. The show focused on a lot of the Disney Princesses so Kora was on cloud 9 and Logan was happy to see Mickey and the Gang. It was an enjoyable show overall, but when I saw that Disney on Ice: Toy Story 3 was coming to Cleveland this year, I knew the kids would be thrilled. They are huge Toy Story fans – Logan loves zoom around like Buzz and Kora tries to yodel like Jessie. In the weeks prior to the show they had seen a number of commercials for the show and they were enthralled ever single time.

Inspired by the “We’re Going to Disney World” line of home video commercials currently running, I decided to video the kids reaction when we told them we were going to Disney on Ice: Toy Story 3:

We packed up our two excited preschoolers and headed out on a frosty January evening. We headed downtown and found $15 parking across from the Q Arena, which was hosting the show. As we crossed the street in a sea of families, we saw a number of people coming out of the parking garage next door. The sign there said, “Special Event Parking – $8.” We’ll be keeping that in mind next time!

I picked up our tickets at Will Call which was speedy and incredibly well organized. The metal detectors were another story – not to the fault of the security guards, but instead because of the unprepared parents trying to pass through. Many people didn’t realize the restrictions on how much water could be brought into the arena and with little babies a lot of the water was being confiscated, causing some understandable confusion.

It didn’t even occur to me to check the website, prior to the show to see what was allowed and what wasn’t, but it was a good reminder for everyone to do so in the future.

After weaving our way through the hallways full of brightly lit, spinning, and talking toys, snacks, costume pieces and more, we found our way to our seats just in time for the show to begin.

The show started with an intro by Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy which was a great surprise to Kora & Logan.

Then came out the Toy Story green army men. I was impressed with their routine and think I enjoyed this part of the show the most.

Next came out Buzz, Woody, and the crew and Kora & Logan were all smiles from then on.

After a brief intermission, that included lots of smiles and hugs….

The show started back up again. Kora was ecstatic to see Barbie and her friends in their brightly colored outfits skating to a well-choreographed, cute, & peppy routine.

Logan loved any of the scenes that involved all of the characters and once the show wound to a close after 2 hours, he was good and ready for the finale which included all of the Toy Story performers as well and Mickey, Minnie, Donald, & Goofy.

We had a great time at Disney on Ice: Toy Story 3 and would absolutely recommend it to anyone with Toy Story fans in their house. With a starting time of 7 pm, the show ran a little long for us ending at 9, and Kora & Logan were tired but held up well. If you’re attending with younger children, we’d suggest a daytime showing for full enjoyment. Also, don’t forget to check the website of your local arena to make sure getting through security is a breeze. And be sure to do a quick online search for discount tickets for the show in your area, you’re bound to find something that will save you a couple of dollars at least.

We give Disney on Ice: Toy Story 3…

2 Big Thumbs Up!
