Contigo Autoseal Mug

Contigo has a 14 oz. Kids Spill Proof Mug with their Autoseal Technology.  We received the cup in the mail and when I first looked at it I was worried my son Mitchell, who is 4, wouldn’t be able to work it. The cup has 2 pieces, the cup and the lid.  The lid has a big button on one side and an opening on the other side for drinking.  To use the cup, the button has to be pushed while you drink and then when the button is released, the opening closes up to make the cup spill proof.

Well, I didn’t have to worry.  Mitchell easily caught on to the mechanics of the cup and soon became a pro at drinking from it.

I think he actually drank more and more easily with this cup than other water bottles and sippy cups he has.  I like this cup for a few reasons.  First of all, it’s not a sippy cup, but it is still spill proof.  Mitchell is getting older and a sippy cup is starting to be too young for him. Also, the packaging does state that it is for ages 4 and  up.

Second, it only has the 2 parts, which I like because cleaning it is easier.

There is no valve involved in making this cup spill proof so there are only the two pieces to keep track of and it’s one less step in filling it up.  Maybe I’m silly, but putting the no spill valve in the sippy cup always gets on my nerves and I have to have a place to store them along with the lids and cup.  Anyway, I tried out the spill proofness of the cup by shaking it while it was full and there was no leakage.

A third thing I like about the cup is that it is BPA Free.

And finally, it is top rack dishwasher safe which, of course, is very important in a busy mom’s life.

My one complaint about this cup is that it is not very cupholder friendly.  When we were in the car, it stayed in the cupholder in my son’s car seat, but it didn’t sit down into the cupholder because of the squareness of the bottom of the cup and the round cupholder.  It looked  like it  might fall out if we went over a big bump.  It was the same way in my daughter’s car seat cup holder and in the stroller.

I actually really like Contigo’s cup as a spill proof cup for my preschooler and I’m so glad we had the chance to try it out.

Thank you to Contigo for providing the cup for review. No compensation was received. The opinions are my own and that of my family.

Nice that is only two pieces and is spill proof.

  2. LOVE this idea. My daughter is 3.5 years old and keeps asking to drink from a sippy cup. I want to get her a spill proof cup that isn’t a sippy. This looks like the answer!
