Chef Boyardee Whole Grain Review & Giveaway – CLOSED

I admitted in a prior food review that I had “dinner guilt” for not preparing made-from- scratch dinners nightly. Balancing being a full time working mom and a mother of three can be challenging and something has to give. Unfortunately, usually the compromise involves some sort of meal preparation. The holidays have been busy and I was thankful that Chef Boyardee recently sent us a can of their new and improved Whole grain Pasta Beefaroni to try out.

I don’t mind using the occasional can of soup or pre-prepared food as a lunch for the kids on a busy day or weekend. With a can of Chef Boyardee, some sliced apples, and fresh broccoli with ranch dipping sauce- lunch was a snap!

In this photo, you can see the differences between the original can of Chef Boyardee that we had in the cupboard and the new and improved whole grain pasta Chef Boyardee Beefaroni.

The labels are very similar. I thought it would be fun to host a taste test with the kids and see what they thought… and then my motherly instincts said, “What they don’t know, won’t hurt them” and I decided to serve the healthier version without disclosing the change!

Guess what?

The can disappeared and the kids didn’t even know the difference!

The whole grain pasta in the Beefaroni boosts a little extra fiber in our diets too. I am all for sneaking in healthy options (think black beans in brownies, the applesauce for oil swap in baking, and shredded carrots in meatloaf) and the whole grain option in Beefaroni works. It’s another healthier food option I will feel less guilty about serving which makes both moms and kids happy.

My only complaint is that the sauce still leaves the stain on shirts! :) I will spare you the sloppy shirt and messy-faced kid eating Chef Boyardee photos!

Next time you are out grocery shopping and want to consider an easy meal, try serving some Chef Boyardee Whole Grain Pasta Beefaroni to your crew. For less than a dollar a can, this is also a budget friendly option.
