I love exposing the kids to a wide variety of music. And, although I usually enjoy it, we don’t have any Celtic music in our house. So when I was recently given the opportunity to review the Celtic Woman Songs from the Heart CD, I was excited to do so.

Once I put the CD on, Kora immediately said she thought it was pretty. She sat and looked at the CD jacket containing images of the singers for about 10 minutes while the music played. She loves to dance, so I was certain she’d get up and at least spin and twirl a bit, but she didn’t. We had a long day though and had just eaten dinner, so she was enjoying the music while looking at the pictures.

I loved every song on this CD from the 5-member Irish group. The entire album was soothing, calming, and just plain beautiful. If I had to pick a favorite, I would choose Amazing Grace hands down. It was so heartfelt and soulful. The group does an incredible job of modernizing Celtic music. Some contemporary selections on the CD include Sting’s Field of Gold and Billy Joel’s Goodnight My Angel and they are beautifully done.

Celtic Woman has sold more than 3.8 million records in the U.S. alone and has had 7 sold-out U.S. tours. They’ve performed on Dancing With the Stars and have an upcoming PBS special. They are currently touring throughout the U.S. Check the tour schedule to find out when they are coming to a town near you.
